View Full Version : the big buell exhausts topic

ok...some info for those who don't know what's out there, with as much info as i could collect.
these are not all the exhausts available, but atleast you'll see most of them.

dyno's are not included, because for an accurate comparisson you need to fit them all on the same bike, use same settings and dyno.

hope you like it [smirk]

- Buell Race kit exhaust
discontinued, if found used can run up to +500.00 USD

Direct copy ASB's website....
wouldn't call it a direct copy...but i did use some of their pictures & dyno graphs. :o

why? cause it was a good test-report [smirk]

but added several other exhaust, since asb didn't use that many in the test. ;)

some more dyno's i found...

these are tested with the f.a.s.t. intake system and not the open k&n

02-04-2008, 10:09 AM
I bet that Termignoni pipe sounds insane they all make great sound out of the Ducati's they are famous for. I unfortunately have the Buell Race Muffler on my bike. But it sounds good enough for me and produces fairly well.

whitezombiebueller

How much did you pay for your pipe dans03firebolt?

dans03firebolt
02-04-2008, 12:27 PM
I bought the bike in December and it already had the pipe on it. It also has a K&N air filter too. I will find out this weekend when I take the front off if it has the race ecm. If I was going to buy any pipe I would have to say it would be the Termignoni just for their outstanding reviews on Ducati's.

just got a mail from a certain eduardo with this: 4T exhaust

Made entirely in stainless steel for greater durability, through a process that combines craft work and modern techniques of welding, 4T ORIGINAL lacks screwed together and rivets, where the silent compact and rugged, lighter than standard and with a rising power of 5 hp "approximate".

Does anyone have the Force Full System exhaust and headers on their bike or know someone who does?? I almost bought the whole system but knew very little about it and the price was too high at the time... now im having second thoughts

TMC
07-03-2008, 12:58 AM
they don't make the force anymore:( atleats that's what ive been told.I have a lot of experience with this pipe!!! but you can find them every now and then on ebay and other Buell websites. That is the only pipe I would buy personally it sounds mean as all get out and great performance. The only down sides are it's hard to find one and they are extremly loud but sounds bad a@*

FIDOSOL
07-08-2008, 09:36 PM
I really hope this is the right place for this....

I wonder, are there any negative effects on engine reliability if I just run straight pipe from the header? Anyone have practical experience with this?

Oh yea, never hurt my chevy...

LeFox

without other adjustments, yes.

FIDOSOL
07-09-2008, 06:36 AM
besides remapping ecm, and possibly tps reset, what else would I need?

LeFox
07-09-2008, 06:43 AM
you have no backpressure what so every, so you will lose alot of low-end torque.

apart from the basic tune-ups, i would atleast do some real engine mods.
also, since it's just a pipe, with no packing i would suggest the heat-wrap.

how would one get the hsa headers? and does anyone know their effect on the power curve?
although they don't look that different from polished oem headers, they are hard to find.

trojan used to carry them, but it seems that they removed them from their site.
also their own domain http://www.hsaexhaust.de seems to be down [confused]

price differs where you live and just google the pipe and you'll find the things you need.

this was posted to give more or less an overview of what is available...but you do have to do a bit of effort yourself [smirk]

FIDOSOL

even worse [smirk]

FIDOSOL
07-11-2008, 07:35 PM
but at the same time, the sound alone might be worth it, I can sacrifice some low-end for a kickass glass shattering sound, but I won't do it until I can get some heavy mods in as well...like this...

Also, how does the exhaust flutter valve thing work on the XB12? perhaps there is a way to take that system off a 12 and modify it to give some backpressure on a more or less open pipe.... any thoughts on that?

LeFox

could be done, but you would have to create a 2 in 1

commercialized as in never sold through stores or major manufacturers.

it's a home made stock modification.

why did you add it to your list?[confused]
because it was sold for a while through the net and now the site displays a good do it yourself link on (another) forum.
and also, cause dave asked ;)

the Jardine is known for failing also you have to repack it every so often so it is kind of a pain in the but compared to the rest. Some people love the jardine. I personally would not put it on my bike because I do not feel like it was built for these bikes it is just like all of there other pipes just made to fit our bikes. the other pipes were made specifically for these bikes. Heck at least 3 or 4 of them start there life out as a stock pipe.

I need to post a correction to LeFox's post...

It is NOT the latus pipe on this bike:

http://pbalias.smugmug.com/Cars/Buell/ex1/370543952_qCf6X-L.jpg

It is my own design and built exhaust for the XB series motorcycles. Fully stainless.

Track Day Mag uses it on their Race XB (http://www.trackdaymag.com/Articles/GB-Exhaust-for-Buell-XB-Series-Motorcycles.aspx)

Yep, I was about to say that GB's bike doesn't have a Latus unit on it at all.

Lefox, the exhaust that the bike in the photo has is a GB exhaust.

Ok guys, I know that hawk is a hack pipe, but how bout it?
Also-
I want a low deep bass sound she can feel down to her taint!
I'm not too interested in so loud,so much as DEEP baby!
I'm also not interested in more hp;

LeFox

micron is pure performance with a nice tone @ idle and a wild & loud roar when twisting the throttle.
more like a muscle car instead of a hd.

ti force is looks & low deep tone...powergain is ok, but not on the top of the list.

the race has a nice deep tone and good performance gains.

others i haven't heard on real life, so i can not advise on that ;)

Odie disappears for long periods of time. I think Special O.P.S. is a pretty secondary side project for him. I've never heard bad things about his exhaust, but I've also never heard good things about how easy he is to contact. It's a ****ty combo.

Best of luck in getting in touch with him!

the guy here is a cock!!!! i asked what in his eyes was the best exhaust for performance and sound. he said we only sell for performance... i then explained i had a honda repsol for track days and my buell as my show piece,he still wasnt interested.... so if you want an exhaust dont go here the guys dont want your money!!

Funny, I received the exact kind of behaviour trying to buy boutique guitar amps, guitars etc from the Netherlands, there's something wrong with people running that kind of bussiness over there lol

Does anyone know if any of the aforementioned exhausts are legal for road use in Europe? I have a '08 XB12R and police here is really strict about such stuff... they don't do an appropriate dB check, they just give you a ticket, and you don't get to go to the court to prove that your exhaust is legal... so having a EU legal certificate under the seat might help. So, any ideas?
Also, I see that many pipes are plain aluminum coloured/finished, would painting them (for looks) with an appropriate black thermal-resistant matte paint be a good idea, or not, and for what reason?
Thanks!

Also, soundwise I'd like a deep low grunt, as opposed to the more high-pitched sound of the stock can, for example something like the AFTER version on the following two videos

Also, on the first video I read some comments about reseting the ECU or getting another one for the exhaust, what do you recomend?

Stacey and Jesus,

I can not agree on your comments.
Twin motors Torque Hammer is a serious product.

What is it what Erik had on his mind when he designed our XB´s?

A ROAD LEGAL NAKED V-TWIN, OPTIMIZED FOR PERFORMANCE.

And this is exactly what they provide.
Name me another company which can supply me the same complete package;
- Combination of exhaust, filter and optimized ecm.
- Great performance, Great deep sound and Road legal.
- And for my personal likes available in black.

I love the torque Hammer.
And if you check on their site, ou can sure tell that these guys are very serious fellow buellers.
With their own racing team. And not some (with all respect) local chop-shop.
