This pipe came in a box with my 2009 XB12Ss. I have not seen another Buell pipe with this exhaust tip- is this a stock pipe? It says on the case that it meets noise requirements.
Thanks- and hello to everyone on the forum- I am new here.http://www.buellxb.com/buell_images/8451_20101116073908_L.jpg

They also had a oulet that exited to the side and had a nice looking brushed aluminum look tip, my 06 Ss had one. That one in your pic was on my 08 & 09 Ss. WELCOME TO THE FORUM , your amongst friends now !!!!

Thanks. I can't decide what to do- I have a Jardine that came with the bike, but it is giving me hearing loss (only has 800 miles on it, so I doubt it is the packing failing) it is way too high pitched. And my EBR ECM has the bike idling at 1700 rpm until it warms up, and the neighbors have had it. Looking for a quieter performance pipe that won't set me back a million bucks.
I like the Drummer, but it'll run me $500 easy getting it back and forth from Hawaii. Also looking at Special Ops. I also like the idea of not having to re-pack a pipe- a chamber muffler is preferable.

Give Randy at Hawk a call.
Hawk Performance Mufflers (http://www.buellxb.com/Buell-XB-Forum/Buell-Lightning-XB12S-XB12Ss-CityX-XB12Scg/Hawk-Performance-Mufflers)
He now has a more quiet option and will do it for around $200[up]

Drummers are nice but will require repacking at some point. Kevin has a service where you ship him your pipe and he will repack it for a small fee or you can do it your self.

you can buy a silencer that goes on the Jardine.

i'm going to try the Hawk- I like his design. yeah, I tried the Jardine insert, and it sounds like crap- worse than stock, IMHO. It also ran pretty bad, too.
As far as the Drummer goes- paying someone $400+ to cut and gut my mild steel pipe is outrageous. it's a pretty pipe, though...

Whatha gonna do with the Jardine?
As to the original exhaust pic, I think that's an OE Ulysses muffler. Anybody able to confirm?

Pretty sure you're right...Also on some Ss models as well as stated before.
FYI - Randy will not be able to reuse the rear cap on this style pipe as he usually does but he can weld on a flat plate in its place. Just a slightly different look.

It's identical to the one that was on my 08 STT & 09 Ss, i believe they started using that long tip in mid 07 model year on the XB12 line.

Perhaps only on the STT, Ss, & XT's? My friend has an 09 Scg and it has a standard side outlet pipe the same as my 2004 has (had).
Here's a 2007 STT

Good to know...
WALLSXB: I will probably be selling the Jardine to offset the cost of a Hawk pipe. It'll be probably a month before I will ready to sell it. Not sure what I will ask- it's got all of 1500 miles on it and it's perfect.

that pipe was not on the scg models ever...
I have an 08 and my brother has an 09 and both have the side outlet.

That is the factory muffler for any Buell built with an SS frame and swingarm, looks like flippin macaroni coming out of it and they sound horrible. You can't even here the exhaust cause it's quieter than the motor. It ruins the buell sound imho

It's HIDEOUS! A bike as cool looking as a Buell, and that thing is poking out. It's the equivelant of Megan Fox having a wart on the tip of her nose, FREAKIN UGLY!
