A hero blue cityx with silver wheels? Thinking about having mine painted silver. Comments.

Don't think I've seen it in blue, but my bike is red with silver wheels since it's just a 2003 with newer plastic.
(sorry if this is the wrong picture, I'm on my work computer and can't see the flickr images, but I copied the link from my profile so I *think* it's the right picture)

It'll atleast give you an idea. I'm not crazy about the colors with the black frames so i think the silver frame and wheels really lightens it up, plus my bike is the only one I've ever seen with the tansparent red and a silver frame, so that's a plus.

Thanks. That gives me a starting point. I agree the silver lightens it up. If I had a black frame then I'd go for the all black look. I have a guy local that said he'd paint them for 75 each. Not sure how much it would cost to ship two wheels. I think I'll have him paint the seat rails and tail light piece to match. Not sure why the used gray sides and a black tail light?

Red is my favorite color, but when I was looking at buying a new XB a while ago I was looking at the blue instead. The red is just too dark and with the black frame I didn't like it at all. The red is tinted much darker than the blue, not sure why. That was a plus of having the silver frame, otherwise I never would've liked the color as much. Someday I'll probably see if I can find some blue. I love the look of everything being black though. I also have the black plastics, and it looks good, but not as good as it does with the black frame.

I'm not sure what the deal is with the seat rails being a different color. Maybe they knew they were going to make the xb12 frame a darker gray, and only wanted one color of seat rail, so they picked a shade between the two? It would probably look good if you got them all done the same shade. I thought about painting my tail light housing the same color as the rest of my seat rails. The stock cheese grater was silver(although another shade still), but after I've looked at pictures of it both ways, I actually kind of like the black a little more. It just shortens up the look of the rear a little. The silver at the back just stretched the whole tail out, and one of my favorite things about the XBS is how short the tail is so I just went with it. Plus I painted it at home, and black is much easier to do and keep up with since I just used truck bed liner.

I'm thinking of cutting off the cheese grater as well. I saw another bike that they had got rid of the tail light and used led's for the tail/brake light. Wonder what all is involved in doing that. I guess I just found out what my winter project is going to be.

I'm not sure what a sonoma is, but I'm assuming it's that black truck in the background of the first picture. It is not mine, which I'm glad of, because if it was I'd have to be concerned about it driving down the road while I was taking pictures of my bike :p

Direct bolt on? Oh please someone post up where. I assume it replaces what would be the void area from removing the tail light housing? I could keep the cheese grater in tact of I ever wanted it to go back to stock?

Hey up, are the outer edges of your rims polished? Looks a little to shiny to be paint.

yes they are, the 2003 bikes all had silver wheels and polished lips.

I'm actually going to be powder coating the spokes of my '03 wheels black in not too long

Well there's another option. Strip the outer edge to polish it and leave the center black. Then come tire change time I won't be to nervous about scratched rims.

I think there's a better looking option out there, but here's one from Rizoma...

I didn't want to cut up my own cheese grater either, so I bought a spare and put my original on the shelf, either incase I end up selling the bike, or if I ever decide to use it as a commuter and wish to keep the rain from running down my ass crack. Either way I figured it was good to have around.

Hadn't thought about the rims being polished, but the bare metal did put my mind at ease when I was changing the tires. My other bike has black rims that were cheaply painted and I destroyed the paint when I changed the tires, haha.
