Anybody ever talk to EBR about 1190 up-grade..how much,i'm not talking about the bikes he sells..:p

I read an article (can't remember which one) where Erik said that that's how they were being made...they still get the 1125 engine from Rotax, then they tear it down and rebuild to the 1190 specs.
It involved titanium connecting rods and I think valves as well (for a higher rev limit). And of course cylinders and pistons. Other than that I can't remember what else was done.

To me that sounds expensive...

I heard it from a fairly reliable source that the 1190 "kit" consisting of pistons, wristpins and cylinders will come in at a somewhat reasonable price. I'm not under an NDA or anything, but I will not steal their thunder on the pricing. Bolt on 20+ hp is just a guesstimate for power. I'm sure that extra fuel would be required, so a race ecm would be a must have item also.

It will be one of the upgrades I'll end up doing to my bike. The 1190 kit and one of my custom pipes, I can see hitting 160+ hp at the wheel, easy. I'm almost to 140 as it is with just the pipe alone, so it's not a huge jump.

1190 wouldnt be worth 44,000 even if he had a 2 for one deal.your better off getting a bmw,ktm,600rr and drop 5-6 grand into a buell.

2011 1198 R Corse Price $39,995.00

Performance
Horsepower (bhp): 180 bhp
Torque (Ft Lbs): 99 lbs

Sure, it's a tad cheaper, but I'd take the Buell if I had the $$ to buy one. $45k for a pure race bike, it's not out of line when you compare what they are. Besides, the 1190 puts 185+ hp to the ground, not at the crank.

On a side note, I'll probably never race mine (well, track day, etc.) again, so the 1190 wouldn't really be a wise purchase for me. I'd love to have one nonetheless.

I am thinking about getting the kit i live 60 miles from ebr cant be that much just bring the engine to him and do my own r/r.Being a former dodge mechanic 20 yrs i can get a good deal on a used srt10 for less than 44k.a lot less.

I had read $35k somewhere for the 1190 so I guess it went up. Uhhh...no. For that kind of money I would rather have a real exotic like an MV or Bimota or for a track only bike an NCR Millona or while I am spending in the stratosphere, I would drop the $81K for an NCR Ducati 848.

I thought I had heard that doing an 1190 upgrade to your engine would cost more than I paid for my bike.

If EBR does the upgrade with everything needed to do the job, yeah, it won't be cheap. You pay for their labor and knowledge. There should be a big bore kit sometime soon. From what I was told, they were waiting on wrist pins or coating on the piston skirts. Just the piston/cylinder kit will probably net 15-20 hp without any head work and it should be (might be, I dunno what they'll really price it at) relatively cheap. I can't/won't give prices, but under $2000 is a good guess. Their full race pipe nets about 20 hp over a stock 1125 and is about $1800, so.... you get the idea.

The 1190 kit, bump rear wheel hp up to 140 or so, then add a pipe for 10-20 more hp (depends on your pipe preference, etc) and you'd be looking at 150-160 hp at the wheel for somewhere between $2500-3500 or so, assuming you do the labor yourself. That's enough power to at least keep up with the typical IL-4 literbike.

Edit: This is a disclaimer, I don't know the actual power output numbers the 1190 kit will actually produce, I'm just pulling numbers out of the air. Odds are I'm close, but I still want to make it clear that it's just an educated guess.

It depends on what you want. Do you want the power or the displacement, or both? You can get the/a power increase without all the higher end parts. Meaning, for street use you don't need Ti rods or valves, you don't need +2mm longer rods. A simple 1190 can be had for not a lot of money. A stock rod and +3MM piston with a little more compression would be inexpensive depending on piston options. Add in some aftermarket rods and now you have a lighter rotating assembly. Add the Ti valves, reground cams, ported heads and now your getting close to 1190 race bike numbers with a race exhaust and tuning.

A few 1125 guys have milled the heads to add compression and timed the cams. With tuning and a decnt pipe this is a 160ish HP combo.
