I was looking at new jackets. The Alpinestars are pricey, but I really like the quality. My question is do any of you wear the jackets with the aerodynamic hump on your back? Does it help with turbulence at highway speed? Is it too ricer for me? Thanks!

I have only worn Icon jackets, and love how street friendly they are compared to A-Stars and other racing style jackets.

I can't tell if that is sarcasm I am sensing, but I ride a 12S.

not sarcasm...just thinking what kind of jacket you would need.
you're riding a 's', so a aerodynamic hump is of no use to you (upright position).
you are on an 's' so need a rough, streetfighter look, not a racy, bright color jacket.
icon is a good choice, personally i like the timax look, but you have many others.
just keep to the 's'treetfighter theme...

I'm going with a scorpion jacket. They seem to match the theme of the streetfighter bikes.

So hopefully I'm not stealing this thread, but I have been looking for a good hot weather jacket. I live in south Texas so in the summers its usually 92-97 with 90% humidity so wearing a jacket can get pretty darn hot. Anybody have any good suggestions that will keep me cool? Thanks.

I live here in Central Florida and seeing the same temps as you are, I ware the Icon Tarmac mesh Jacket and ARC mesh pants everyday and yes its hot but once you get moving is great. I can ride all day in that set up. I traded my buddy for my Hooligan mesh jacket for his Older Tarmac because it fits better on each other but I really liked the Hooligan jacket also.

I have the Icon Arc jacket and absolutely love it. I do find in the fall the cool air shoots through the non leather front on my chest and gives me a bit of a chill but easily fixed with a sweater. Keep in mind that I am in Newfoundland an our fall the temps drop to about 5 degrees Celsius.

Has anyone used any gear from Fieldsheer? I am on somewhat of a budget and Icon gear is a little pricy for me. I was looking at the Fieldsheer High Flow Mesh jacket. Let me know what you think. Thanks.

+1
I have the Scorpion Hat Trick - I love the removable inserts.
It has a shell that is mesh and can be worn with no liners and is light enough for summer.
One liner is waterproof for rain.
Another liner is quilted for cold weather.
Or both liners can be zipped together in the shell.
It also has a padded back peice and plastic inserts in the shoulders and elbows.
Mine is black on black and looks very cool IMO.

Anybody have any experience with fieldsheer? I bought a pair of their pants and they seem to be ok. The knee armor is annoying, other then that, no complaints. I need a jacket as well and was going to get one to compliment the pants. (does that qualify for the most feminine comment on bullxb.com?)
Any thoughts?

No it doesn't qualify for the most feminine comment on buellxb.com, I'm waiting to hear "does this jacket make me look fat?". You said the knee armor was annoying, are the pants fitted properly? I'd want my jacket to match my pants too...don't we all?

Oh BTW, here is my jacket of choice. Oh, and just so you know. It is always something.

It seems to be the consensus on the stores website, pretty much anyone that bought the pants said the knee armor sucks. Other then that the pants fit pretty good.
The one I was looking at. (http://www.motorcycle-superstore.com/1/1/39/9506/ITEM/Fieldsheer-Mach-8-Mesh-Jacket.aspx)

Tzippria, I can't speak from personal experience, but a good friend of mine, who rode an R1 and was very bikey, said the aero hump was well worth the money. He said he felt more stable on the bike and didn't feel the vacuum behind him anymore.

Oh yeah, I have the switchback from harley that you can convert from a normal jacket to a mesh one and has the removable crash pads. I think it's pretty bad ass and I have been switching it back and forth a lot due to temp change to and from work. I'm gonna get two big Buell patchs to put on the jacket, one on the mesh and one on the zip off part so it's always big and visible.

Just picked that up, I really like it other than I got it in a size too large(XL). Breathes really well, has the zip in insulated liner. Good luck in your searches!
