awesome, thanks thats exactly what i meant. it looks really neat to me, does it just help direct cool air to the engine?

Yeah, pretty much.

Most will swear in here that it lowers engine temps and notice a big decline in the cooling fan running. When I got my bike I did every freakin mod imaginable all at once so I couldn't confirm lol.

thats kinda what i thought and was hoping for. but if its so effective why didnt they come with it? either way i think thats the nex mod ill try on. thanks err-bawdy!

I think Harley wanted to see the motor more than have good cooling. They did that kind of thing a lot. My cooling fan hardly comes on at all anymore.

Only Buell knows the REAL...reason they didn't use them.

But I know on two XB's I put them on (aftermarket), the engines ran a lot cooler, by way of the fan not comming on so often or for so long.

Despite...the ..."experts" saying "since Buell didn't put them on, they're not needed.."!

Well, myself and many others have seen the proverbial light...the DO help.

If you are a cool to cold temperature rider, and/or do a lot of short hops, don't do it. I don't think the motor warms up enough with one on. I base that on oil temperature. I'm not a daily rider, so when I start mine, it gets warmed up well. I put one on last August, and never heard the fan once. Even after some spirited riding at 85F, nothing on key off. Took it off, now the fan cycles on shutdown.

Does it work? you bet. I love the look with it on. Is it right for you? Maybe. Me - June through August only.

Don't you all love these opinion pieces? :D

the more i look at it, it seems like they wanted all the exhaust on one side and all the intake/air scoops on one side for aesthetic balance. but its settled then. im getting one. my fan runs long and loud after i cut the engine and its kind of annoying. and cooler engines last longer so...thanks again everybody!

Have both the bikes set up w/ both sides I ordered the Ulys/comfort kits and it does make a difference. The Adamec HD/Jax.Fla. has been pertty good about getting whatever i want or need so far. There parts Dept. Rocks. I know not all HDs are equal so there are plenty of places.I didn't put the back fan piece on that came W/ each kit. But It still works very well.[cool]

got my right side scoop from american sport bike today on today during my lunch break. gotta say it does make a bit of difference.. the only time the fan came on was when i shut her off to go back to work after about a half hour riding around town. seems like a worth while mod to do. also, i gotta say just how good the service was from american sportbike. TERRIFIC. and really fast shipping. already got a new pair of grips from them too that came in like two days! very impressed with those folks [up]:D
