So I switched from a "metric" bike to a 09' 1125R. Love it's power and pull. Rode about 100 miles or more today and fuel light came on.

My question to all the owners is how far do you have on a tank when the light comes on? My bike is still all stock.

I ride an xb so it may be a little different but I usually have no problem going another 50 miles after my light comes on. I figure it probably comes on when I got about a gallon left lol idk

On the XB the fuel light comes on with about 3/4gal in the tank.

I wouldn't personally push it much more than 25mi if the light comes on. First you don't want to be stuck pushing the bike, but also the internal fuel pump is cooled by the fuel so if you run it low all the time it may burn up the pump or cause the life of the pump to diminish.

xtremes right ! the r and cr reserve/low fuel lamp also illuminates at about 3/4 gal (0.8 gallon) the r's and cr's do not get the same gas mileage as the xbs do.When it comes on watch your f-trip to count down the miles you have driven! your lcd screen can give you a average mpg .

roughly 20 Miles after the light to be safe.. I have never run out of gas, but have come close...

Agreed in the metric being 1125 cc. Just stating the difference most people recognize foriegn bikes as metric not american made.

I'm another one who pushed the fuel light too far. I managed 27 miles to no fuel...

I now interpret the light as "get fuel NOW!"

My 12r gets about 125 miles per tank before the light comes on.......when the light comes on I stop at the next avalible station.

yeah ran mine about 15 as well, took that long to get to a good gas station. I'm picky on what I put in my tank. Which by the way anyone use only premium in their bike? I use only 91 but I wondered if it mattered.

ok i know this is off topic but i seen your name blasterchap, i thought you was a blast rider , until i read the thread., its a kinda missleading name for a 1125 rider/owner.
anyways welcome to the best forum , and to the buell family.

thanks for asking this Blasterchap I have been wondering over the last few months what the 1125 gas mileage was .

here is a link to us XB guys for our milage.

Good evening gentlemen ;)
I too have just become a proud owner of a 2008 1125R.
1000 miles on it, like brand new, only the engine sounds like a bag of nails at low rev's. Absolutely love the bike though a real pussycat, the easiest thing to ride I can remember. Will soon be looking at a new exhaust though but not for the noise, the stock pipe is a little crude, and wraps the lower half of the engine ready to nicely cook the oil, I think I would get better cooling for the engine as a whole with an after-market pipe, and improved ground clearance also, (never know when you might fancy a little off roading :p) in truth, the size and shape of the speed humps in Ireland are a little unpredictable, and I dont fancy leaving my exhaust behind.. Recommendations appreciated, dont want much louder than stock..
