back one more time. wanted to thank one and all for the great advice on what to buy. just closed deal on a 2007 XB9 cityX. has 525 miles on it, one tiny scratch on swingarm, other than that is still like new. got a great price and really excited. here's my questions and then i'll go away quietly---LOL---thanks again everyone for the great info. i want to change the fluids, get a shop manual, do the exhaust canister, and ECM mod. is this practical and warranted? what oil is popular? is ECM worthwhile if i'm just looking for looks and noise? i do all my own maintenance so any and all tips greatly appreciated.

ecm- if you change the exhaust and air filter, should run a race map,it will rich en up run better and help with some cooling

oil- there is tons of threads ,every body has there favorite...here's mine

i use mobil1 in both holes also amsoil and royal purple are widely used.depends on the pipe the more free flowing the more an ecm or tune will help with popping and running lean.

I own a shop and i use only AMSoil simply because of these bikes get so damn hot. Yeah, i get the cheapie ones that want me to use the stuff they bring.Yep sign here(waiver) they don't like it to bad. Amsoil 20w/50 in the engine change at as close to 4,000.mls as you can. The Tranny gets really hot so from what i fix for other customers has helped me over time to see what works. I USE in my own 2 XBs/XB12R Only AMSoil products for my bikes. A 75/90 synthetic gear oil only in the HOT seasons when i can find it. Mostly have to order it. Screaming Eagle works OK as long as you change it at 2,500.mls.Royal Purple V-Twin is ok.Cold weather(Redline)Shockproof works good. If you get cheap oils & such you'll be working on the Buell a lot. Air cooled Bikes are tough on Fluids .Good Luck w/that. [up]

thanks for all the help. jimijeans---question for ya....doesn't the trans/primary fill of one quart, take the same motor oil as the swingarm tank fill? in other words, don't i use engine oil in both swingarm and primary cover fills? thanks for the amsoil tips and yes, after it's broken in i plan to go synthetic.
