Just purchased a 07 Xb12ss yesterday with 13K miles on the clock with jardine SS can for 4200. Other then that its stock. Is a re-tuned ECM required to properly run this setup? The owner said it wasn't but I thought I would make sure. Mods for the future are going to be re routing the CC breather, Crossroads 0 degree handle bars and new levers. Haven't had much time to ride yet due to work and rain (gotta love Washington state). Anyways just thought id drop a few lines to introduce myself.

I thought it was a pretty good deal myself =). It is definitly a heck of a bike and a blast to ride. Kind of reminds me of my Moto Guzzi v11 sport only much lighter and more nimble.

Welcome to the forum! these bikes are as nimbel as it gets. You can do a couple of mods & make your bike like no one elses. Need advice just read and you're ready to figure it out w/ plenty of tips and a Forum that has fun while doing so . Check out Erik Buell Racing, & many more, Check out the Mods section Too! Have fun & ride safe.:D

What part of the state are you from? I'm going to say the west side since you stated rain. I'm in NCW.

I am in Mount Vernon. Thanks for all the welcomes! There is definitely a wealth of information on this forum.

Ordered a service manual on ebay and plan to change the oil first off. Everyone seems to have there own opinions in this subject matter =P. I was thinking of using either mobil 1 15 50 or shell rotella 15 40 synthetic. I have had good luck with this oil in all my vehicles in the past.

Iv been using Mobil 1 Vtwin for a little over a year now and am very happy with my change from Royal Purple.

Nice Bike!

I just picked up an 04 XB12S and wanted to do the first oil change with the rotella T6 (full synthetic 5-40) you stated or the rotella triple t (dino 15-40) hows it worked for you? and which one would you recommend out of the 2? my only concern is that its not a 50 and im in AZ where summer temps get pretty warm 90-100 and at times 100+

bill: welcome to the dark side. nice bike...nice price...nice color.
iirvington: look in your owners manual under sevice/oil/capacities and recommendations...if you have the manual. as with H-D sportsters and big-twins...even BMW boxers.....you can run a quality 15-40 oil when temps are consistently lower than 60 degrees fahrenheit. over that i'd stick with recommended 20-50. whatever you choose to use and there are dozens of quality oils on the market, be sure that the oil you use in the primary/trans (1 US quart capacity) is recommended for motorcycle usage and specifically wet-clutch applications.

Thanks will do! yeah our winter is sometimes below 60 during the day but you never know it likes to randomly spike up to the mid 70s and low 80s at time, looks like il be sticking with 20-50 year round! [up] and heres a pic of my new lightning
