You can use the same bolts. there may be a few others you need but the lightning tail doesn't have many bolts. I've almost og tmine together, just waiting on the seat undertail but I also ordered all new bolts.

The absolute must haves you will need are the 4 bolts that connect the brake light housing to the rails and the shorter seat latch cable.

You can use the brake reservoir and just mount it under the tail or shorten the line and mount it under the tail like the lightning one, but you need the bolt to mount it and it is a fine thread bolt that is located no where else on the bike, so you wont have any extra of it by chance.

The wiring harness will work but may need to be modified depending on what tail light setup you are going for.

Just finished doing mine.

Here are the problems I ran into-
The rear brake reservoir is different on an S than an R
I made a bracket to hold it to the S mounting tab then had to shorten the hose to the master cylinder.

I had to make a bracket to hold the shock reservoir.

I would recommend buying these two pieces if you can along with the Battery strap as it is longer on an S.

Wiring was no biggie other than the license plate light needed plumed in with the tail light circuit.

The frame bolts from an R will mount the S rails no problem most of the rest are 1/4 bolts. I just went to the local hardware store and bought some stainless allen head bolts.

I had to make a bracket to hold the shock reservoir.

Hmm, I mounted my Firebolt res. holder in the tail of my S

xtreme- I didn't want to change anything so that it couldn't be changed back.

Right now I could convert back with no hassle other than the brake reservoir hose.

I even left on the cheese grater for the time being.

Right , I have the longer hose as well, I just zip tied mine in side the rail so it was out of the way.

I will be going with a shorter hose with my build for a more stock appearance but I have an extra res and hose
