Looking for some pointers on on getting pressure back in my front brake master. First off, I have owned my 2004 Firebolt since '05 and have had NO problems at all.

I parked my bike outside a business for 5 minutes and when I came out, I found it laying on its side with the brake lever slightly bent. Some ass hole backed into it hitting it just hard enough to tip it over. (no one saw, or said anything about it, you guessed, it I get to pay for the damage) So after further investigation I see a hair line crack in the brake master, not good!

So today I am replacing the master, brand new and with lever, directly from local Harley dealer. I replace the part following everything in my service manual( filled brake master, bleed system etc...) but I STILL can't get any pressure in the lever nor will the caliper tighten up on the brake rotor.

PLEASE HELP, WHAT AM I DOING WRONG?

Thanks in advance for your time and input, everyone on here is pretty knowledgeable and and detailed in their explanations and solutions.

its hard to say not being there.check the lever to make sure it working the master cylinder.try gravity bleeding.open the bleeder and let the fluid flow keep the master full do this for about 5 mins then close the bleeder.pump the brake 3 times and open the bleeder letting the air out while holding the lever in close the bleeder let off on the brake do this 4-5 times and see what you get

Off the top of my head I would say keep bleeding the brakes I know when I disconnected my back brakes it seemed like forever before I got pressure back, even though I only had fluid coming out. I was literally on the last set of pumps before I was going to buy a brake bleeding setup when I got pressure back.

make sure the brake line on the master is pointing up so air will rise to it.bike up right bars straight other wise air gets trapped to the rear of the cylinder

Thanks guys. I have been doing exactly those steps you suggest... Keep on keepin on I guess.

I have been at it for an hour now and I am loosing my mind! I have worked on cars for years and done a lot of my own repairs on the 12r, it just seems to be unreal that it would take so long or be such a head ache.

You could get a MityVac vacuum pump and "pull" the fluid down the line, then bleed as normal. I'm assuming that you've got the stock bleed fitting at the caliper; a "speed bleeder" won't bleed a dry line if you've swapped that out. Good luck!

Baal,

Thanks for the tip, I think that may be my next step when I get back to the project!

Baal is right! that is the way I have it done, at my shop. No mess NO air etc.. There is a small plastic bottle fix as well.Sears/ or Harbor Freight if your on a budget has what you need. Sorry about your bike.
