I created a new thread so it wasn't so cluttered.
I am ready to start taking orders for the upper belt guards. These fit my 2008 Firebolt, you are responsible for finding out if they will fit your year/model, ask your dealer. Below I have sample pictures with the designs that I have. If you have something else in mind that you would like to see or have added just let me know in your PM. The price will be $40 per guard for my time + shipping. I can not do the pegusas logo due to copyrights. These are made out of aluminum and I can either leave them with a plain finish, sandblast, or add a brushed look make sure you let me know what you would like. You are responsible to paint/powder coat. I am not responsible for any damage (if any) caused by these guards. I can not warranty these guards, materials can and do fail from time to time. However I have had a guard on my bike for a long while now with no problems at all. PM's only please do not put your order in a comment. Paypal is my prefered way of payment.
Lower belt guards as well as guards to fit older years are on their way so sit tight.

Also I forgot to add. If anybody decides to screw me someway and not pay I will stop making parts for everybody and will keep them all to myself. I will also post your user name and make sure everybody knows what you did. So don't be the guy who ruins it for everyone.

Hey any plans to make one for a 1125?
If not would you make one with the bend reversed and with the mounting holes not drilled? I can do the rest of the work. I just dont have the tools you have. I have been thinking of trying to make one myself, but I dont have the capabilities you have, just good old fashioned hand fabbing.

I like the first design you posted.
Shoot me a PM or email if you'd like. I'd be up for buying one, I could even give you measurements for the 1125 if you wanted. Just let me know what you would need.

Does anyone know if the bolt locations on the '06+ swing arm is the same as the Ss swing arm? Basically will these work on an Ss swing arm?

Jornum1

I am going to guess no xtreme. But it probably wouldnt take much more then relocating the mounting holes. Unless the angle of the swingarm all together is different.

I think they will fit. At least one guy one here has fitted an S model fender & belt guard to his Ss, the fender doesn't like to best but the belt guard looks fine.
I'll go and find the photo.

Dusty, My buddy has an 04 12R. It should be the same as yours. He gave me his stock guard for measurements and I will be making some to fit those years soon so sit tight.

Hmm, not digging the gap between the belt and guard but I am sure some moving around can bring them a little closer.

Xtremelow, You would like the guard to sit even lower/closer to the belt? Let me know, I can change it and send you a picture.

Dave, I can also play with this for you. You would like the tail end of it to follow the curve of the sprocket?

dave_xb12r
03-22-2011, 10:50 AM
Yes. It looks like the mounting holes would just need to be 3/4" or so up higher. As far as the bend goes, I could even bend that last inch myself. Hold off on making it though for a week or so. I'm buying a new camera (D7000) as soon as it's back on the shelves and I want to make sure my funds are available for it first.

The guards look great!

can you make beltguards for 1125's?

Nilla I commented on my last thread, or sent you a pm about this? I cant remember.
Anyways, I can make them but I do not have access to an 1125 for test fitting. I usually use a stock plastic guard for measurements.
I am in contact with another member on this same subject, he is going to check if these guards will fit if they are just reverse bent for the left side.
Either way I would like to find a way to make them for you 1125 guys.
If I could get my hands on a stock guard I could make up some prototypes and send them to you to try out?
Just throwing an idea out there.

Shoot me a pic or just post it here with the guard as close to the belt as you can get it without needing to worry about it touching somehow

Also as for design I would be up for the Oblonged top holes and triangular side opening. [up]

i pm'd you a while back, but didn't get a response

i also have a spare 1125 set of guards, ready to go in a flat rate box this afternoon. you can keep 'em.

tho i'd like to mention that the stock guards are universal to fit the CR and R rear sprockets.
the CR sprocket is 76 tooth and the R is 70 tooth. this makes a difference of about .25 inch between the two.
if you'd like i can give you diameters, as i have one of each sprocket. lemme know

just measured the 70T and 76T side by side.
a full half inch difference in radius! not a quarter inch like i thought. ... 13.5" across the 76T and 12.5" across the 70T
so the 72T (04+ XB) should be just inbetwwen, a little closer to teh 70T

day later than i promosed. sorry. :p
upon review; it looks like it could be kinda smallish, and (due to the slightly divergent mounting points compared to the belt line) with a double crease. ... maybe? [confused]
one at the mounting holes, and a slightly obtuse (greater than 90) one at the belt.

it'd be great if we were closer to eachother or if there was a 1125 in your area that you could use for mock-up and test fitting. ... or if the mounting points were parallel and uni-planar. [mad]

edit; i really come off sounding like a nerd, but im not smart 'nuff to push F5 before clicking the 'post' button. teh=the

Maas562

No worries, I've been occupied with other things as well.

This one is definitely not as straight forward as the XB's.
I have a few options that I'm throwing around.
The easiest I think would be to utilize a spacer or shim. From my measurements I found that the offset between the two mounts is 5/16 (.3125). The spacer/washer/shim would get welded to the back side of the guard behind the front mount hole. This would cause you to need a longer bolt but I'm sure those can be found. That would bring the guard parallel with the belt and only one 90 degree bend would be needed to get over the top of the belt (similar to my XB styles).
Some other options would require more than one bend as you have mentioned. I can draw them up and see how they would work out next week.
Let me know what your thoughts are on the shim idea.
Also would you like the guard to bend down and follow the curve of sprocket at the tail end like the stock one does? And would you like it to mount up flush with the plastic piece on the very front also like the stock one does.

nilla
04-01-2011, 05:06 PM
what about tucking the rear of the guard behind/to the inside of the mounting ear/boss, and running the bolt in from the other side?
it would make removing/installing it harder, but would eliminate the welding, and help keep the labor and production costs down. the bolt end would fill in the hole, and it might not look too bad. shiming the front would prolly look smoother tho .... i can take a micrometer to the mounting points and get you a measurement in the AM to see if it will even line-up and resolve the issue.

i don't particularly care to keep the bend that follows the sprocket. your XB stylings look clean and i like that about them.

i think lining up with the mud-guard thingy would be great.
you'd probably only hafta do the side of that little 'horn' enough to tuck it into the mud-guard and fill in that gap.

is there any other 1125-er's out there, or are these being made just for me?
let's get this guy some feedback so he can make a better product for all of us

Maas562
04-02-2011, 04:39 AM
You could take a straight edge and mock it up that way to see how close to parallel it comes. My guess is that the front is going to be pushed a little further out, but it might not be too noticeable. You could try it, take some pictures and show me how it looks.

As far as you being the only one, I've had a hand full of people pm me about the 1125's so all your help/work won't be wasted.

Should I maybe start a thread on the 1125 forums?

As promised, here is a prototype guard for the 1125's. This was the first one I made and fortunately my buddy just bought one so I now have something to test fit easily on. It came out very close and I only need a make a few minor changes, you can see one obvious change is that it needs to butt up with the mud guard.
Keep in mind it does not have to look like this. I just copied the stock style, it doesn't have to have the bend on the end of it. Let me know your opinions and any changes you might want to see. These will also be customizable just the XB guards I make.

i'd like it to be like the XB's (in legnth)
the outline cut where it follows the curve of the pulley.

Keep up the good work!

Yep, I figured everybody would want it shorter. I just made the first one to mimic the stocker.
I will get a shorter one cut up and post some pics.

Definitely, once I have them finalized I will get that done for you.

Since these are a little more material than the XB models and I have to weld the spacer on the inside I am going to up the price by $5, so $45 seems fair to me. Let me know your thoughts.

Thanks again for the feedback guys.

Any word of those belt guards fitting the 03's?

Still working on them, sorry for the wait. I've been busy in general since I make these in my spare time and my buddy that was letting me use his bike for test fitting brought it to school with him in MN so he will be back in a few weeks.

Don't be sorry man. I understand these things take time. If you were in northern california I'd let you use mine I only really have time to ride on the weekends.... sometimes but im thinkin about racing my bike and NHRA requires a guard. Sometimes it sucks being a tech inspector for a drag strip lol

well, here i go begging and choosing:
i'd say the legnth is about right. it looks aproxametly 7 times better than the OEM drooopy-ness IMHO
could the trailing side be cut/trimmed/shaped to more closely match the curve of the pulley?

i like how the OEM lower does that, but i don't like how it ... ... well it's not 'open', but that's kinda it's intended design ...[smirk] ... HMMMMMM
i knew the stock guards did not please me, but i didn't know what specifically it was.

i guess I am just asking you to 'mirror' the lower guard.

Maas562

haha I figured you would say something like this.

I don't think i will be able to get the exact same curve as the pulley. Simply because the rear mount is on the inner edge of the pulley. Get what i'm saying?

I will make up another and try to get it as close as I can. I believe I am going to have to lower the actual height of the guard and get it closer to the belt in order to get the curve closer.

Stay tuned, I'll post pics.

well I recieved my custom Maas Heel Guards and they are dope! [up]

Would have included a pic BUT after successfully removing the left hand side oem heel guards and installing the new Maas Custom Heel Guard I went to work on the right side...
...thats when it got ugly, for whatever reason the hex key that worked on the left side ended up stripping the right side and now I'll have to drill them out and replace them with [confused]....
LOL

anyone have a couple of extra heel guard screws they want to mail to BC?
:D

Hey Guys,

Sorry for the late responses. I don't have full access anymore to the Waterjet that I was using for the guards therefore it's more difficult to get things done exactly when I'd like.
As for the GPS plates I've been making I send those to an outside supplier now since they are 1 simple part and the more I order the cheaper they are.
When it comes to the custom heel guards and belt guards that I was making they become quite a bit more expensive because I only order one set.
I can still make them but most people aren't going to want to pay that much for them.

Nilla I still want to get the lower guard done for you. The upper guard is pretty much done to the way that you want it.
I hope to have full access back to the waterjet so that I can get the custom stuff cranked out for you guys.

Let me know if you ever get access to the waterjet again! I would really love a set of heel guards with Iron Crosses!!!

Hi Mass562,
I have 03 XB9sL. I need you help to cut only my stock heel guards (I do not have precision cut tools at home). I do not like the holes !
Can you make like 3 straight horizontal lines matching the holes? Using my stock heel guards. I can mail them to you plus pay.

Thanks,
Route0766
