I just received my Corbin Seat. Looks awesome, but it does not fit. The brackets under the edges where the bolts go thru to the frame are off by about half and inch.
If some one has this seat and is able/willing to pull it off to measure the length of the brackets and hopefully a picture with a ruler beside it, this would be very helpful. It would tell me if the brackets are a little long or if they are mounted in the wrong spot on the pan.

Explaining the problem to Corbin over the phone is not working out well. Girl actually said I should put some lubricate on it and it would slide on better.....haha.

I will post a pic of mine when I get off work, so anyone that is able to help, can see exactly what I want to show them.

Here is the seat, It turned out great, carbon looking flat black leather for main part, some black matte stuff that matches the frame on the nose of it and blue carbon strip around edge. If only it fit.

Ok, as it standing right now I am going to have to give Corbin as a company a DO NOT BUY rating.

I paid them 260 bucks to make a seat. It arrived and the bolts don't line up. First girl says lube the rubber bumpers to make it fit. Then she says I need to take it to their Ormond Beach store to see if the guys there can install it. When I told her that was 100 miles away and I was only there for bike week, she says "So that's gonna be a problem?" Then I talk to a guy, who wants me to take my bike and the seat to Ormond. I ask him how I'm supposed to ride the bike there and bring the seat that doesn't attach to the bike?? And best of all the invoice says no refunds for any reason. I hope this gets made right or I'm gonna be more pissed than I am now.

Sorry for rant.

Call Al at American Sport Bike. He quit selling the corbin because of the problems you are having. He will guide you through the fix.[up]

In the case of the Firebolt version, the center bumpers are always too tall and need to be shaved down so that the center catch can go under the frame hoop. I did that, and shaved off the front bumpers that touch the shock tower on the regular firebolts
Not sure it will help, but I fopund this on the "other" buell forum. You know, the ****ty one.....lol

This may not help but I dont even bolt mine in anymore. My friend doesnt either. Never had any problems. Seat just stay's there. It easy to access the battery to.

Or you could just remount the brackets. You shouldn't have to(damn you Corbin!).... but it shouldn't be that hard.

catching the 'frame hoop' isn't the prob. That part actually fits. It is the rear bolts that don't line up.

As far as not bolting the seat....not so sure I want to do that. Seems like it might move a little, it least may cause some rubbing, worse cause a wreck I guess. Don't think I could relocate the brackets because, it is only half an inch. If I tapped new holes in the basepan, I think they would be too close too the original holes. More than likely I would drill the hole in the tab of the bracket a little more and have an oval that extended to the threaded hole in the frame.

For tonight I'm done with it. Waiting on them to get back with me.....

According to the instructions on Corbin's website, the brackets should be adjustable. Is that not the case?

NOTE: The rear brackets can be adjusted as needed by loosening the allen bolts and moving the bracket.

The reason I ask is, my Corbin Firebolt saddle should be delivered early next week. [confused]

I just received my Corbin Seat.Â* Looks awesome, but it does not fit.

Welcome to Corbin's quality control. AND Welcome to Corbin's customer service.

Dispute the charge with your credit card company. No matter what the invoice says, items such as this have an implied "warranty of merchantability" I believe it's called. Meaning that the item must reasonably perform the function for which it was purchased. If it doesn't fit, (and if the OP's suggestion that the brackets may be adjustable doesn't pan out), then you're entitled to return it for a full refund OR they must replace it or modify it to your satisfaction. Don't listen to them about any restocking fee if you choose to return it. The product appears to be defective.

That being said, I think you get the inkling that they're unlikely to make it good. Dispute the charge and get out of it while the getting is good. It's likely to be a serious quagmire for you.

Willie the rear brackets aren't really adjustable. you can move them around a little but it doesn't slide like it would need to to work. Good luck, I hope yours fits better. This sux because this seat looks so great.

And still no response from the company.......

First off, Howdy Sheriff!

It looks like those hex screws is where it would adjust. Try unscrewing those and lengthen the hole on the bracket in the opposite direction of where it needs to slide. That's also what the girl was talking about lubricating.

I also got a Corbin seat just after the holidays but only fitted it 2 weeks ago when I got the bike out of storage. Mine does not fit either...I can get one screw in but not both. I have also called Corbin and they tell me it should fit. I was going to spend a little time figuring it out as I now also have the rear pillion to match.

Seat are great though, just over a week ago I rode from Burlington Ontario to Buffalo NY for the first time out this spring and the seat was a little hard to begin with but still comfortable.

Let me know if you find a way to get it to fit.

Thanks

just wanted to add my 2 cents about corbin's customer service. there pretty much isnt any customer service at all. Bought a seat about 2 months ago and I ordered the wrong shade of red for the side panels. I just wanted to know what it would have costed to return it to have it re-done with a darker shade of red.... I havent had a response in those 2 months. Now i'm trying to find a spray on vinyl dye. to be most blunt : Great seats, horrible company.

also, on a hunch I went to go see if that seat fit on my bike after reading this and sure enough, it didnt. the outer edges of the brackets actually wouldn't fit inside of the tail fairing. they would have cracked or rubbed on the plastic had I not grinded them down on the table grinder. So with that completed I also had to drill the holes that mount to the frame bigger with a drill press. (would have taken pictures but forgot my camera) It was actually a pretty easy fix and much better than dealing with the hassle of getting ahold of corbin's customer service.

Corbin called me back today, finally and said I could return the seat and they would fix it. When I asked what they where gonna fix, she didn't know. Im just going to drill the hole where it should be in the mounting tab. Just have to make it more like an oval. Also the tabs on mine dont fit inside the plastic either, so I'll be grinding down the sides a little.

It really sucks that this company is so horrible, because comfort wise they seem great.

Pics when I get done this weekend.
