Whats going on? I'm new to the Buell/ motorcycle world. I just got a xb12r from an insurance company theft recovery for a price i couldnt turn down. All it needs is the gauges. Ive found the gauges online but was wondering how to mount them. any suggestions?

Welcome!

this bike looks familiar, did you buy it from someone on this forum?

You'll pretty much just have to get creative with the gauges. Without the stock mounting brackets you'll just need to get some sheet metal from home depot, chop it up and find something to bolt it to.

have fun with the bike!

I am assuming that you purchased the entire gauge cluster. This website has a lot of parts. I didn't see the mounting brackets for the gauges but I just took a quick glance.

They also sell fairings for pretty reasonable prices. I did not see a black one though. They are a salvage yard so you might even be able to e-mail them with the specific parts you need.

If you've got a few bucks to spare I would just try to buy a lightning headlight/flyscreen/mounting bracket. Then you'll have headlights that actually work when it gets dark anyway.

Jake it looks like one of those "street fighter alien" headlights you see on ebay. Im with maiden on it unless you can pull off a custom cluster mount.

Buellet welcome to the family. Let's see some more pics of the front end so we can give better suggestions/ideas for you. Where you located maybe someone local can help out.

i am new to the buell world. just traded a 2004 predator 500 quad for a 2004 firebolt xb12r. the bike was wrecked and needs a front wheel and the aluminum bracket the fairing and gauge cluster attach to. does anyone have any ideas on where i could find these parts? i have already checked buellers listed on this sight but no luck. thanks, Edward

Aside from a hs/Buell stealership try buellsterparts.com i think buellparts has wheel if im not mistaken. I don't go on there much since they don't really have much for ny bike (03 9R)

HeyBuellers! I am also new to Buell, matter of fact it is my first bike. I was going to get a Honda CBR 600, but so glad I got my 03 Buell XB9R. I was planning on changing the exhaust in a few months, and I have already made up my mind to go with Hawk. What is all the talk about the ECM and mapping? And can't I just put a K&N air filter in the bike without doing this?

Those pictures are getting me excited for the top triple/clipons that are on the way to me for my lightning. I'm gonna try to switch to a tuber style 7" round headlight and flyscreen so I don't have to chop up my normal parts. I'll have to come up with some way to mount my gauges and all of that as well. it'll be a good weekend project.

Hope you're enjoying the bike!

Whoever changed out the front fairing removed the brace that holds the fairing. That is where the gauges are attached. I took a couple pictures for you to show you how it is mounted.
