I know, I know, its been to long for me to do this but i wanted to get good pictures and get all my mods done. Well i still have neither... lol but i figured, if i get all my mods done at once, how can i show off my progress???? So i took some pictures today for the fun of it. Going to have a gopro later this week so videos and new pictures.
My bike -
2008 xb12r Firebolt

Traction Grips
Cyclone 866f alarm (TRY AND STEAL IT NOW ****ERS!)
Removed belt guards, installed helmet lock in place (for the arai)

I love the red so much more on this one. And the D&D makes a world of difference. Power wheelies are so easy and ive started to get some clutch flick wheelies in second but with the giant stock levers, its alittle harder for me. So excited to get everything done and also do some films and pictures. Expect a wheelie picture very soon ;).

Funny little story. I was just getting use to the bike and the extra power doing small wheelies. I cam to a stop sign, stretched my legs, left them in front, got bored, powered on... front came up unexpectedly with my legs still out in front. Let it down (going down a hill) as a car was coming. I was embarrassed as i thought i looked silly. But the car drives by and gives me three little honks like saying "Bad ass!" And my buddy tells me i looked bad ass when i did it. Lol "Loki- Makes wheelie mistakes, looks bad ass doing it" ;)
Now im to scared to do it again! Lol

I would delete what type of alarm you have just to be on the safe side. If you know the type of Alarm it is you can learn how to disable it very easily. Nice bike! Sound clips??? I love D&D's

I am alone... Thanks for reminding me frostedflake! D:!
lol

and jobe, i understand your concern but i cant edit it anymore and i trust everyone on the site. Plus to disable it you would have to set it off first and i have the bike within hearing and seeing distance. She isnt going anywhere this time! (I pray)

I love the way my D&D sounds and I haven't even had a chance to ride it....lol. It sounds like you have your bike well planned out. I too want to ceramic coat my header. It is ugly as sin right now!!!!!!

A few more updates. Added halo themed lights around my headlights and broke my eyelets so just removed them completely. Im still unsure about the lights but here they are.

Also go in some ASV F3 levers today. Put those on and had a new experience. Turns out the ebay listing for the levers was wrong and so when i installed the brake lever it was pushing the brake already. And i didnt adjust my clutch lever perfectly so it would barely engage. Well anyways i went to show my friend. I noticed sitting there that my brake lever would barely pull in and i just thought "Man these levers are tight" well he was taking to long so i decided to leave. While turning around my bike was acting weird so i thought it was my clutch and id go back and adjust it. Started up the street and my bike keep getting slower and slower, id give it more gas thinking it was trying to come out of gear or something. Then my front end started sloping down, and down, then it hit me. My lever was so tight because it was locked up on me. Well there i was sitting in the middle of the street trying to take off my lever. Got it off, then my clutch stopped grabbing at all. SIGH
Figured out i should grind my brake lever down so it didnt apply ANY pressure when attached. I tired to adjust my clutch and i kept failing, so i gave up on that for a bit. At this point my friend was by and he gave it a shot and fixed it for me. So i fixed my brake and he fixed my clutch. Now i would get to enjoy my levers but i became pretty worried about them and figured they wanted to kill me!
Though after riding around for a good while, the levers are working amazing, look amazing, and feel amazing. :D

P.S for anyone wondering, there is hardly ANY vertical play in the clutch lever. I have a video showing this if youd like me to upload it.

P.S.S sorry for typing a book. Thats only have of what my day was like. My friend had a interesting day as well. Lol

Are those the gel thick grips? Do you like them?
I'm looking to replace my stock ones and wonder if it's a big difference.
Thanks.

Yes they are, and i f***ing love them! They are so comfy and provide such a good grip. they are amazing. Get them. I had them on my last bike and liked them so much that i bought them for this bike and my friend is thinking about buying some for his bike as well.

Modded my license plat bracket today. Cut the sides that mount up to the turnsignals off, turned it around, and stomped on it to bend it. Looks better but i do expect to be pulled over a few times for it. Ah well, you can still read it!

In the meantime of making my LED turn sig/tail light. I modded my turn sigs into the spare break light i had. Turned out great! Nice and bright still and looks cool. I couldnt get a picture of the turn signals brightness due to the rate it blinks at (LED up front) but its just as bright as the stock ones... cause they are, but they seem brighter behind the red.

Love the clean look. Will get more pictures of the whole bike soon. Deal with theses for now. I also got a new rear tire on!

Nice looknig bike [up] Where are you going to get the LEds for your light? I am going to make a LED rear for mine as well.

I have to turn left into my place and always feel a little uneasy sitting in the middle of the road waiting to turn. Expecting to get ran over someday. No turning lane either. So I want my rear brake light BRIGHT! One reason why I am not doing the integrated signals. More room for red LEDs. I like the look of integrated signals though.

Looks good Loki. [up]

What part of Missouri are you in?

Loki
07-02-2011, 06:25 AM
My rear isnt LED yet its just the stock turn signals modded into the tail light. But the LEDs i am using are standard 5mm 3.2v white LEDs. Its proving to be a slight challenge but if you dont want to make one you can always buy super bright ones from www.xblights.com

STL im actually around STL also. I believe ive told you this before? Lol we should ride sometime.

Hey Loki nice bike man.

I'm just going to yell un-requested suggestions for upgrades at you now as though it were my right to dictate.

1) A black primary cover would add higher levels of evil.

2) Them passenger pegs are ****ing with the visual line of your tail section.

3) maybe some different mirrors because the rest of your bike is so slick looking now.

seriously man it looks great and I like the headlight treatment a lot.

Is that your dad in the picture of the tail lights or have you grown a MAN belly in short order?

Cheers

Levi

Loki, On the LEDs I would not use white LEDs. The best ones behind a red lense are RED leds. Honestly. I have been researching this for my truck. The White leds are a mix of all the colors. A red lense filters all but the red spectrum of light. So ALL of the white LED light will be filter except the red spectrum. With red LEDs behind a red lense, almost all of the red light passes through the lense. Goto hidplanet.com and check the LEd forum. Lots of good info there. Honestly for a more OEM look, well on cars, use a red-orange LED. When I do mine I am going to have it flash 3 times real quick like a strobe to get attention.

The led tail light im making is just basic and something to do. Im majoring in electronic engineering so just thought it would be a fun project. Nothing major.

I have sliders, sorry ;)

Ive stated that I am going to buy new mirrors soon as i can.

I plan to black out the engine this winter (with other things)

Yes that is my dad, im 6'3" 149lbs.

STL that sounds great.

Andrew ive posted pics of it everywhere. Ive had it since march this year but i didnt want to post a new thread just to show off a few new photos.

Thanks guys!
