Hey ya'll, I'm wondering if an '09 dipstick will read accurate in my '04 firebolt. I know there are slight differences in the swing arm from '04 to '09. I have that curved P.O.S. that is a pain in the ass to read/deal with.

Also, any aftermarket dipstick options? Thanks!

The top of the dipstick is completely different and won't even screw into the swing arm. So I would have to say No it won't read correctly.

Thanks man, I was afraid of that. I remember seeing a few years ago someone made a billet dipstick... Can't find it now :-/

Mine is curved too and it's a pain in the ass.

Quick question though, you're supposed to check the oil with the bike on the sidestand, correct?? and do you screw the oil cap in before you check it, or just wipe it clean and set it back in without screwing it in before you check it? Just changed my oil and I want to be sure I've got the right amount in there.

I usually tip my bike up center, not sure if that's correct but that's how I do it. I do screw the dipstick all the way down too. I have never had any oil level, leak/seeping, overflow issues, etc..

Sure wish I could find that BILLET joint! [mad]

ASB has one for 08+ for $90

There's a straight billet one (no gauge) for the 03-08 for around $70. I forgot who makes it though

I've seen that one, pretty cool. May be stick with the OEM bent noddle... [smirk]

I usually tip my bike up center, not sure if that's correct but that's how I do it.Engine Oil (swingarm) should be checked with bike fully warmed, let sit for several mins. & then check level while on the kickstand.

I've got a billet one on my bike (03 9r) that has almost like a ball n socket joint the the dip stick is attached to the cap with. It's a pretty slick set up. Not sure where it's from though. It was on the bike when I got it. I'm assuming ASB because the bike has front axle sliders and the sifter are from ASB.

Stevenc150:

Thanks for the correction! I always check oil after running however...

I'll check it out Dusty! Thought it might be ASB also.

NP Rusty. I did a quick once over and didn't see anything there but you might have to give Al a call. Might not be listed?... I don't know.
