Rode the bike the other day after switching to k&n an didn't know if anyone uses K&N oil on it or just slips it in and goes? Suggestions, experience?

Just check it with your oil changes. If it's dirty, clean and charge it. If not, leave it be. Keep in mind, the dusty/higher pollen areas require more frequent maintenance.

just go to
http://www.knfilters.com/instructions/18627_inst.pdf or http://www.knfilters.com/search/product.aspx?Prod=99-5000
for the instructions . just take a shop towel and pat the filter down with it. it should absorb most if not all of the extra oil (oil droplets), (alot of people over oil it (and i have seen it over oiled straight from factory too.) and follow step 4 and only the dirty(outside) side gets oiled or they just put to much on by accident , shouldnt cause to much problem unless it gets on the IAT sensor or on a car IAT sensor and/or the mass airflow sensor, if so just very carefully clean it off). i think everyone has over oiled it once (at least the first time, i did half way though first time(on my gf's truck) just patted it with shoptowel untill it absorbed the extra oil droplets).
and make sure to look all over it inside and out for tiny bits/pieces of the metal wire mesh that its made of , I found about 3 or 4 of them on mine for my Buell , they was about 1/32 to 1/8 inch long , doble and triple check it every where !!

With Native's post most people over oil the filter which leads to negative issues. I actually stopped running K&N filters on my truck and cars once dry filters came out that flowed the same.
I have a K&N on my bike and left it pre-oiled once it is toasted I will just see about a dry filter. I know the amount of oil is small but it is there none the less. If you don't have a breather reroute on the other hand run the piss out of the K&N and don't worry about to much oil as you are sucking it much more than a charge kit every time you ride
