My 08' xb12r stator and regulator just went out @30,000 miles.[sad]

How did you determine this? did you actually trace the problem to the stator and voltage regulator?
I'm actually having similar charging issues and have been working on narrowing it down. I am hoping that it just a short as the battery drains from full charge in about 15 minutes riding time. It is NOT the battery. I heard that the connector where the voltage regulator plugs into the electrical system sometimes melts. Sorry, tangent.
Are you planning on taking it in for the repairs or d.i.y.? how much do each of those two parts cost seperately? I know, lots of questions. -nem

narrowed it down to the voltage regulator today. the part is like $83. i'm just happy that the stator checked out fine. another 5 days and i'll have the part and willbe ready for riding season! woo.

That's good Nem. That is certainly the easier of the two. A stator is a little more money, and kind of a bitch to replace. The last stator I did took a couple hours and I'm no stranger to replacing them.

The 08+ XB bikes have the up grade regulator and wiring. I posted a while back how to check both systems(you need a Digital Meter to do this for exact readings. I believe it was Stevenc 150 that turned my response into his area to being able to view the advice on How To Check the system.That being said you got some good miles out of either part. Lucky you.I had to replace my Regulator at 14,000 miles give or take a few.

Nem, little brother is Buell mechanic, checked it and its grounding out. Not bad for 30g's and this is the first issue other than the two wrecks.
