Im hoping you guys can help. I've read stuff like this before but its not exactly what is happening to me. When i start my bike it will click, sometimes for a second sometimes until i take my thumb off the start button and try again. But many other people with this problem say their trip odo resets, mine doesnt. So im wondering if my starter is going? Oh and sometimes it doesnt click at all and just starts right up like normal. Thanks guys i'd appreciate the help.

Sometimes its best to start with the easiest possible problem. First thing I would do is take out the battery and follow the black ground cable to where it is attached to the frame, these tend to get some corrosion build-up or it could have come a little loose. Then clean your battery terminals up with a hard wire brush and make sure your connections are nice and tight. I would also check the battery for correct voltage and charge it overnight if needed. go from there.

My bike used to act that way, I ended up with a loose ground, so make sure to check all your grounds and conenctions.
Make sure to clean the contacts in the ignition housing, get the battery load tested, and clean the terminals. Good luck.

One Wheel monster,Is the Bike Hot and been running a while, when it does this Problem? May Try This, Turn on key,With Clutch lever pulled in,NO Gloves on.Turn on Start/Kill switch.let Engine Lite go off. Touch the start Button.Does it Try to turn over? OR sometimes does it do nothing? Did you have to press hard on the start button? Make Sure the bike is in Neutral. What year/make is your bike? How many miles on it? I would check the Start Relay First. They are about 6-8 dollars.I Think it COULD be the Start button itself. The whole assembly is about $34.bucks or so.If you are able take it apart & check the contacts.{Disconnect}the battery first! The Clutch Lever safety switch will Sometimes act the same way.Is there a lot of Slack in the Clutch lever? BUT try ONE thing at a time. I'm trying to give you a few ideas to start from.[Usually] the start button is the Culprit.I'm hoping thats what it is.Check the Small Things First!Battery connections, grounds & The RELAY make sure the Battery is fully Charged. If you have a Meter It won't hurt to check the Voltage at the battery while it's running.12.3-6 volts AT idle.14.5 or so at 3000Rpms .If you pull a relay mark it,Especially if you change it to another area.Hope this will get you in the right direction.Welcome to the Forum.~Jimi
