Looking to get something similar to Rizoma Belt tensioner. Also I thought someone was going to make something like that, Looking to see other options or is rizoma best bet.

Check the Free Spirits Site,If you are looking for a Belt tensioner, That's constant & spring loaded.Trojan May have this as well. Maybe Twin motorcycles.nl-Most of the parts like this are Overseas.Check American Sportbike also. There may be someone Here that can get you better info OR have a different way to do that Mod.

I didn't know Rizoma did a belt tensioner, have you got a link?

Or are you talking about there forward pulley cover?

Wish the Free Spirits for the Buell looked like the new XR 1200 tensioner, I think it looks killer, almost like it is just floating.

What mine looks like

The XR one sure does look better.

If I do pick up one for the XB in the future the 1st thing I'm gonna need to do is paint that yellow spring another colour.

I think the angles are different. Not sure if it would bolt up but in the pics it looks to sit on a higher angle than what an XB tensioner would.

For the XR.
Would it be possible to find the tension of the stock cb tensioner and then bolt up the XR and o ky put the rear axle in so far to where it has the same tension? Im sure the axle HAS to go in so far can it go in just enough?... Anyone catchin my drift?

Dusty, not catching your drift at all.

You aren't saying adjust the tension by sliding the rear axle are you? The rear axles aren't adjustable, if they were there wouldn't be a need for a tensioner.

Mmmmmm yeah kinda. We turn in the the axles 15 turns in. Is that to get the proper tension on the belt only or is there so much more to it? (I have a feeling the answeres yes)

Basically what im saying is if the XR tensioner is angled higher can we only turn the axle in say 13 turns to make sure there isn't too much tnesion on the belt but still have everything else align and fit right?
If the answers to the first question is yes then im just gonna say the answers to the second question is no lol. Im just brain stormin tryin to get ideas and what not.

No, the tension is set but with the full seat of the axle and it also centers the wheel so what you want to do isn't possible

What axle are you talking about? Rear axle?? The rear axle doesn't affect belt tension no matter what. You tighten it to factory specs then lock it into place with pinch bolts. Turning the axle doesn't move the rear wheel toward or away from the front sprocket at all. The axle is centric (centered), not eccentric (offset, or cam shaped or like a crank shaft).

There is no adjustable tensioning on these bikes stock at all. The front pully position is fixed, the swing arm axle/pivot is fixed, the rear wheel position is fixed. It's engineered to have correct tension when all put together and there's no adjusting anything. The Free spirits however is spring loaded (as is that purdy pic of the XR tensioner) but is more for a constant tension duty, because the tension changes with swingarm movement, the spring loaded ones are designed to keep a constant tension under all suspension movement. The only way I see being able to use the XR tensioner is to modify how it mounts.

I'm confused about what your trying to say maybe?

He was wondering because if you read the owners manual it says to remove the belt you back the rear axle out 15 turns, which is just enough to let some of the pressure off the belt since the back wheel can turn slightly.

The axle has a step/taper where the belt side wheel bearing seats. When you back out the axle 15 turns, the belt side wheel bearing falls off the bearing seat and onto the tapered and smaller diameter portion of the axle thus relieving belt pressure. The bearing is now on a smaller diameter part of the axle and is sloppy. Again, the axle is concentric, not eccentric and backing it out will leave one floppy wheel!

For what it's worth, if some are digging the XR tensioner because the anodized aluminum bling (I'm a fan :D), the FreeSpirits comes in colors too!

Yeah Mike you understood me correctly and after writing all that on my phone I more or less answered my own question. At any rate... I want one.

Don't buy one from Trojan Horse Racing I ordered one from them a month ago and it hasn't arrived. They took my money, sent me some sort of automated order confirmation and then nothing. I've tried calling and emailing them (several times) and I have gotten no reply.

I'm not worried about the money I put it on my credit card but my Buell has been down for 6 weeks. Now I'm worried TH is out of business. Has anyone received anything from them in the last month?
