07 xb12R 2,200 miles, fresh oil change, new air filter, fresh pugs, & "Right side scoop."
My fan seems to come on alot and stays on till I shut it off and then it runs it's cycle b4 shutting off. The last few days I have been out on some 50-90 miles trips to which the fan usually comes on 1/2-3/4 of the way through my ride. This weekend it was close to 90 degrees and the fan came on cruising 60-75 mph on some twisties and stayed on till parked. Yesterday temps were almost 70 and it came on and then last night on my way temps were around 50 and the fan came on, this was all on the back-roads going roughly 70-80mph.
Is this normal or is my bike running hot? No lights or anything just that annoying fan. Also, is this going to hurt my bike???? Thanks buellers.[smirk]

I am thinking it is fairly normal... My old XB9R used to have that damn fan running all the time. less so in cooler weather, but there was never a time that it did not come on. I noticed it less when I had the race exhaust put on, mainly because it drowned out the sound of the fan...

from my experience that sounds normal. I have the same set up, new ngk plugs and right side scoop, and my fan turns on every once in awhile when i park but shuts off a min or two later. It will kick in more often in warmer weather. Mine will turn on when im on the highway for about a half hour cruising at 80. A friend of mine doesnt have a right side scoop and his fan turns on when we park and stays on for a good five min every time no matter what the weather.
so it sounds normal to me.

I have noticed the fan on after a hot run through twisties while riding on hot days. I think it is just the nature of the bikes, air cooled with a heat sensor. It is bound to happen.
Edit: never mind on the scoop sorry about that. Hope you figure out if it's anything to worry about

Here are some picts of the right side scoop, but I been thinking of going back to the round. When I tested them the fan never came on with the round.

I'm sure the fan is helping to keep your bike cooled on the hotter temps. Just some of the after market rt.side air scoops are from overseas & don't really catch the air properly(while they look great) the function isn't as good AS say The Uly.,comfort Kit.It is he best one for catching air while riding,Plus the Rear Exhaust shield COMES in the complete Kit, is Perfect for The Right inner Thigh area.YOU Might want to check in on that. But the Fan is working so it should keep your Bike cooled down. Ride Safe!`Jimi[cool]
