I don't have it yet, but I am buying a friends red Firebolt XB12R. This will be my first bike and super pumped to get it.

But just looking to get some feedback on what brands of helmets and jackets most people riding Buells get. Plan on getting it in the next few weeks then I will post pics!

I love ICON. I use their helmets, jackets and gloves and plan on buying riding pants from them.
You probably gonna hear different opinions in every post...

I have a HJC helmet I really like. It might be noisy, but so is my bike and i ride with ear protection because of it so noise level of the helmet doesnt bother me. Its a low price snell approved helmet. Works for me! [up]

Welcome to the forum.
Someone had posted up a deal on a Scorpion helmet deal and I bought one. Hell, $59 for a Scorpion, I couldn't say no. It's all about money and preference though.
Check it out here> Scorpion (http://www.motorcycle-superstore.com/1/1/38/19581/ITEM/Scorpion-EXO-400-Rebel-Helmet.aspx)
By the way..if you wear a large normally, pick up the x-large. Glad I did!
Picked up a smoked shield and took the free shipping!
Good luck with the new bike.[up]

I think I am liking the Teknic jacket too, not to mention it is one of the cheaper jackets that I can find.

Welcome!! I ride with an AFX helmet (like $63) and a Hein Gericke leather jacket. LOVE the jacket. Like the helmet. It could be quieter, but I'm not really complaining for the price.

I use an HJC helmet fit is good, it's a little loud without earplugs. A couple of buddies use the HJC IS-16 has the built in smoked lens that comes in really handy. http://www.hjchelmets.com/prds_is16.htm
I where an Xelement jacket i got on leatherup.com for like $70.00 nice jacket for the money. Has zip out liner and its really warm, little too warm on those 85+ days!

There's some members helmets for you to browse through. I have an old arai that's about 7-8 years now that's soon to be retired, just ordered a new hjc fs-10. It will be a step down but I'm really looking forward to the retracting tinted visor(same as the is-16 mentioned above). Eventually I'm going to get one of those dual sport helmets that looks like an MX helmet but has a visor on it like a street helmet. Probably just the afx one because there seems to be a huge price jump from that $125 helmet up to the $500 helmets.

Welcome, I have a HJC, but I'm switching to a bell star which is expensive yes but protection and noise level is worth it. I got tried of the noise levels in the HJC. Also I have 2 a star jackets one leather one textile. Its always a game of weighing costs vs protection when it comes to buying gear. Good luck and congrats on buying a buell.

Congrats and Welcome.. A bit of advice on helmet buying though. Make sure you go somewhere and try one on before pulling the trigger. I got the HJC for my wife and son, they seem to have a slightly bigger opening to put your head into compared to the scorpion, also the scorpion sizes run small. I usually take a small and had to get a medium in order for it to fit. My sons small is comparable to my medium, and his small actually slides on easier than my medium..
Hope you enjoy the new toy..

Yeah I plan on trying a few on here soon, but I measured my head and looks like I am a medium. But will definitely have to try a few on beforehand.
