So i started to remove the primary cover. everything was going great, got the clutch cable removed, loosened the primary chain adjuster, removed the shifter and removed all the screws. seriously i've read thru the step by step like five times and cant find where i've gone wrong. problem is the cover wont come off. am i supposed to use some kind of extractor or what. i was expecting it to just come off easy and the manual doesn't say anything. i tried to muscle it but theres really not very many place to grab hold of it please help fast as it is in pieces.

thank you

Try tapping it with a RUBBER mallet.

Mine came right off. Is it budging at all or is it still stuck flush to the motor?

If u do try to pry it off try at the bottom so if you scratch it it can't be seen.
Maybe try and stick a flat head inbtwn the two.

Silly ? But have you removed the part the cable connects to inside the primary and all 14 outer botls?

I also did not loosen the chain tensioner, the block could be stuck on a chain holding things up, which I had a problem with when putting it back

Rubber mallet sounds like the way to go from me.

should i be very worried?

Also the old gasket was an issue to get off. it just tore into little pieces when i was pulling it apart from the cover. i bet its the original gasket, which means it was prob installed in 2002, so its deff old, but is that normal?

and lastly whats the best way to clean the cover? something like simple green or a degreaser spray type product?
