I just picked up a 04 XB12R blk & amber, awsome bike I love it! 12,000mi almost 100% condtion for $2,700.
Here is my problem, the guy before me chucked the stock exhaust system and chin for a TI-Force full titanium system that runs an x-pipe, he crushed is muffler and they are no longer in produciton. I cut the flanges of the x-pipe and Im running it open like a Hog.. lost alot of bottome end it feels like so I want to put a couple of short muffers under there on those 3in pipes..looks like I have enough clearance. Who has a short muffler that would fit? Supertrapp maybe? Seems like I cant go much over 10in by looking at the angles of these two pipe ends...any ideas?
Also, I cant see any chin brackets, I was thinking about getting a used chin and makeing a cut-out that would clear the x-pipe..is there a bracket or does it just bolt on to the bottom end?

Batman bought a cheap muffler on ebay and welded up and seems to really like it. I've seen people come up with a few different options.
The chin fairing used to bolt right to the exhaust. A few companies make brackets for use with aftermarket exhausts, but it sounds like they usually vibrate apart. That's why people who run exhausts like Jardine usually just go without.
Great find on the bike! I'm looking to replace my xb9 with an xb12 and I would've killed for a deal like that!

all of the chin mounts are to the muffler of the stock exhaust, so you would have to match up the holes of your chin fairing to some custom mounts on whatever muffler you go with.
Also your power loss on the bottom end is due to loss of back pressure. Some restriction should get you your bottom end back.

Thanks everybody.. upthemadien, this is my 4th bike, Im a returning rider of 42 years old, my last bike was a 89 Ninja Zx6oo modified (stage III)..nothing Ive ever been on compares to this, the xb12 is absolutely BADASS, the old owner did some mods to it already and he told me its pulling 110hp with tourqe in the high 80s ir 90s, I dont remember. It feels like a REALLY Pissed-off Ninja 250 trainer with good brakes and susupenion. Im sold on Buell now.
I bought it off of a broke "tuner-kid" who said that he "couldnt work on it" and "no more mods for it" kind of kid. Right up my alley bc Im a good Mustang Mechanic (Ive built two of them so far) so Im into "fabrication"..problem is that Im dealing with an X-pipe, and its titanium .. I got two pipes under there, One cannister wont do it, Id hate to build a collector and choke it back down into a single exhaust cannister again and I dont want to chuck a TI-titanium x-pipe worth good money...I need DUALS!
You guys thing a couple of 3" inlet Supetrapps would fit under there??...or would they be too long? One on the shifter side is gonna have to shoot out outward a bit bc the x-pipe ends off-centerline of the bike on the trottle side..I was thinking about a couple of 8" glasspack "exhaust tips" off of a hotrod, if you guys know what those are, they fit but I dont think its enough back pressure..and theyre ****ing Loud so its kinda just extra weight.

I would keep going until you get the chin fairing it looks so much better with it on. I love mine. You will figure it out.

Yeah upthemaiden show me what your talking about, he still has the cannister?
NativeXB..looks like you got yourself a "new edge" Cobra, love those..gas hogs right now though. Ive got a SN94 3.8 that I re-built a few years ago..pulled the motor and refreshed it, put divorced dual shorties on Thrush weldeds, matte black rally paint in the middle of my hood, wheels of a new edge GT bla bla bla.. total cost $3000. Im good at "getting over".
Went on a 60 mile ride today downt the contry highways and some back roads..wonderful bike. Saw Harley slugs with flip flops on looking at me and my XB not knowing what the **** they were looking at. I always wear my new black Icon Contra jacket..that sucker feels like you got nothing but a t-shirt on when you hit 20mph, I got a Icon Allience "Americana" helmet and Icon gloves I picked up on clearance for $13 dollars bc they were a size small..and they were grey too so I think thats part of the reason. So far, I think Icon is offering the best street-sport stuff for the money. Thinking about getting that new Icon Field Armor, the set with the red highlights, anyone know anything about it?
