I personally have the carbon jardine and it sounds great.

don't buy a jardine, unless you get a great deal. The rivets tend to fall out. D&D is nice if you wanna spend the cash, otherwise everyone here loves hawk exhausts. The jardines sound alright, but I don't think they have the normal sound you expect. If you want that sound I'd go with the D&D/Hawk/buell race exhaust or something along those lines.

someone just had a new hawk exhaust for sale on here for $200 a few days ago, might still up for sale.

Love my Jardine CF. Stay away from aluminum. Titanium or CF is much much safer from the de-riviting and falling apart.

I've had an aluminum Jardine and at first it was a pretty loud BLAP BLAP sound ,after a couple thousand mile it was a very loud BLAPITY BLAP BLAP BLAP at idle and on acceleration. Really abnoxious .

One of my bikes has the Buell race exhaust and it's a very mellow BLUM BLUM BLUM sound at idle and quiets down while cruising. Sounds GREAT and not abnoxious !

The other bike has the Hawk. It's sound is like standing at the starting line at a drag strip when the top fuelers are staging. It has a very meaty sound at idle but seems to mellow out on acceleration. The first time I fired it up it set off the neighbors car alarm across the street. Sounds bad ass but is slightly abnoxious.

I have a DrummerSS and love it. A little high in price but you get what you pay for.

I have a Jarden RT-1. It's good but I would prefer a deeper one. But I just have a question. My RT-1 has the outlet is on the left side right against the swingarm. So what exhausts have duel outlets like that pick of the D&D.

Read the American Sportbike Shootout on XB mufflers. They have dyno results and sound clips.

I went back and forth on the options, I even picked up a Force pipe but never installed it due to it's straight through design.
Cost was a major factor for me, and after talking with Randy I decided to go for the Hawk. It is a bit loud but not as loud as the V&H pipes that were on my previous bike.
In the end I'm very happy with the Hawk, I love the way it sounds but in all honesty I can't really say exactly what it did for my performance as I did a lot at once..

Breather Mod
Drilled out the Airbox a bit
New Plugs/Wires
Flashed the ECM with race maps

I would have liked to do them 1 at a time to see the difference each made but I kind of wanted to just finish it up too, because I had 3 other bikes apart in the garage at the same time...

I haven't tried any other exhausts so I can't speak on any them but this is how I came to get my Hawk..

thanks guys, i really want that straight through sound. i love the d&d 07 posted but looked like 04bolt tried to jump on it. i think d&d will get me the closest to my harley straight pipe sound desire.
anyone else tired of theirs?!

BTW: i was trying to view videos of gutted exhuasts compared to Jardines. has anyone heard both and do you know if they sound the same?

Jardine is loud, but not very deep...I have a race exhaust that has a great deep tone...it only gets loud when u get on it...cruising and idle is pretty reasonable

Look at the GB exhaust, it is a straight through magnaflow that looks great and the sound is amazing. I can only compare it to stock, and it is a lot louder. You can NOT use the chin fairing though, that is the catch.

x2 on the GB exhaust.

I too researched which exhaust to purchase. Ended up with the GB Exhaust - sounds and looks great. I can even set off a car alarm with it :p

And as thunderstormgrowl stated, can't use the chin fairing. Not a big deal though, I like the look of a naked bike.

That buyer returned D&D sure looks nice though.

You can use a chin fairing with the GB (or almost any muffler for that matter) if you get the chin fairing mounts from either Jardine or KD Fab (Drummer).

Modded magnaflow muffler, fits any XB. That one is for sale, probably the last one like it from me.

Go with the D&D, wasn't my first choice when i was deciding on a pipe, but i'm glad i did! I just like the sound, it was what i had in mind. and i like the fact that i can lift the bike up from its mounting plate, a big help. Sooo x2 on the D&D, i've heard nothing but bad things about the jardine in the long run, but then again i've never owned one.

sound clips? of d&d read that it is higher pitched then jardine?!? i was told the d&d was close to a Harley rumble. anyone back that up?

50dro
04-23-2011, 05:44 PM
I've heard my Hawk next to a D&D. The D&D was definitely a higher pitch than my Hawk...Not sure if that helps?[confused]

MotoX6

Is the d&d close to a Harley sound, ie. Will it sound deep and throaty

50dro
04-23-2011, 06:11 PM
I guess it depends on which Harley you mean. I've always thought Buells had a distinct sound of their own to some extent regardless of which pipe is on there. When I think "Harley sound" I think deep and throaty and the D&D was less deep than my Hawk...Not that it sounded bad or anything but definitely a higher pitch (and perhaps more "poppy") than mine. Here's a video of mine for reference:

001nPS_sB5s

And here it is stock for reference:

VMgrn8f1pJY&feature=mfu_in_order&list=UL

Honestly, I think that if you're going from a stock pipe just about any of the aftermarket pipes for the XB's will give you the rumble you're after:D Good luck on your decision!

GB. Period. Quality, great sound, durable. No repack, no rivets, not tinny.

If you want Sportster sound, buy a Sportster. None of the Buell exhausts will make your bike sound that crappy.
