translucent air box

does anybody know if one of these cool translucent airbox covers will fit my 04 xb12r??i see them listed on buellparts.net under the lightning section but it says 06 and up xb??was hoping they made a mistake because they look the same?heeeellppp!!!thx for any advice

Yes they fit but good luck actually getting one. Most places have them listed but can't actually get them. [smirk]

Yes any air box made for a xb or 1125 will fit your bike. now if you had an 06 or newer bike you could only get the ones with the mesh grill in the front of it.

So will using a pre 06 airbox on a post 06 buell damage it someway due to the missing grill in front?

No. You can always cut the front and install your own grill. I know I have seen someone on here do it, I think it was Davexb12r.

the post 06 do not have a air inlet in the frame like the pre 06. so you need to let it breath.

I have the translucent orange airbox and would be willing to trade it. (If i ever get this damn front fairing thingy put together it wont be translucent so I need something I can paint to match without feeling like bad for painting an awesome translucent cover.) I dont have a matching screen as I sold it when I started this whole project... Would prefer to have the vent in the front just cause i like the way it looks but beggars can't be choosers I guess

around the neck of the airbox cover... some have a plastic sleeve and others have a grill. the grill is for 06 and later xb's, but of course can be fitted to all models.
but you can not fit earler non vent boxes to 06 later buells unless you mod them to allow enough air.

Firebolt, how about the flip side, i understand theyll fit, but will that additional vent from post 06 models force any changes to accommodate the extra air flow on say an 04? I'm looking to switch my plastics out but the older air covers minus the vent/grill, are seemingly harder to find. thx

all 1125 airbox covers dont have grills. generally they seem cheaper too.

I bought a translucent airbox for my Firebolt off Kijiji in Ontario. It looks amazing but after riding to Buffalo one day with my newly fitted Buell tank bag it got scratched. I was really pi...d I can tell you. I now have a tank guard on it but will not be using the bag again for sure. Just thought you should know.

I have a new style airbox on my 03...in fact I swiss cheesed my airbox for it to accommodate and give my airbox more air.

yeah twoguns i had a couple of emails with Buellparts.net with the same result.I dont know why they want to rip people off blind with their rediculous postage costs.I got an actual airbox sized box of clothing from Barnett's in Texas landed in Australia within 6 days for $45 bucks yet 2 bar end caps were at a postage cost of $55 or so . I sent a reply stating they would fit inside a cigarette pack but that was the price due to them not being set up for international orders. Got some unreal sliders from 50dro in a neat box and he only charged me $17 dollars.An honest seller in my book .
