Hey guys,

I'm looking for some aftermarket bars to replace my stockers. I live in West Texas and the wind is typically 15mph+ and it'd be nice to get some bars that'll keep the strain off my neck and upper torso. I'm looking for a more aggressive riding style and by more aggressive I mean a lower and more forward riding position. I don't go on 8 hour road trips often, so long trip comfortability isn't much of an issue; I can work around that when need be. I average around 30 miles a day and just want something that makes riding a little more enjoyable. Been looking on the internet, but a pic doesn't really tell the viewer how the riding style will feel. I was hoping some aftermarket bar guys on here will give me your $.02 on your bars. Drag bars look like they may work, but they always look like they may whack the tank or scrunch my arms in at a sharp turn. The Carmichael PTapers look like a possibility. It's just hard to tell from a pic. I want to look sporty and not have to feel like my legs have to flex against the tank/frame while I'm riding.

Thanks!

I have the charmichael p-tapers on my XBR. The risers that I made put the bars a touch higher than stock Lightning trees.http://www.buellxb.com/buell_images/3020_20110320061519_L.jpg

Riding position still has me leaning into the wind a little. Still sporty lookin.

Please tell me everything you did to make it all work. My righthand is always falling asleep and it's heel to get a good feel ofthe grip and brake with no feeling.

I have protaper Carmichael bend too. I love them but they are not more aggressive and won't lean you forward more.

I have renthal fat bars mounted with a precision engineering 1 inch bar riser and clamp combination...mx style they were new takeoffs from i believe a kx450. They are very comfortable and lean you forward just a tad more.

Sounds like crossroads or clubmans are exactly what you are looking for. Both would give you the aggressive position you are looking for. I have the -7 crossroads and love the aggressive position...has been very windy (~50mph) lately here in Vegas and they have been fine.

Gunut and Konarider: I grew up racing dirtbikes and I always used the Carmichael bars on my 250, but I have since stopped racing for college and sold my bike and all the parts, so I don't have a spare laying around to try anymore.

2044xb12s: I'm about to look into that setup shortly, thanks!

Miami: That's how it's been here for the past several weeks. Doesn't make for an enjoyable ride to and from class. I've heard several people talk about crossroads. I'm gonna look them up, thanks!

yea i would look into the crossroads for what you want. the wide dirtbike bars will not give you the position you are looking for.

I went with the Renthal Streetfighters. Here's a thread that helped make my decision:

Renthal Streetfighters or Ultralows? (http://www.buellxb.com/Buell-XB-Forum/Buell-Lightning-XB12S-XB12Ss-CityX-XB12Scg/Buell-aftermarket-parts/Renthal-Streetfighter-or-Ultralow-Bars)

Looks like the clubmans are for the 1125's?

Found these:

These look like what I'm wanting; aggressive riding style, low, forward, and c.h.e.a.p compared to Crossroads. Any comments, anybody?
