anyone have any good suggestions for lowering an 07x. I've been looking at specs and i c that the xt has about an inch lower ground clearance than the x so i was thinkin maybe if i could find a set of fork springs and a rear spring from an xt and swap them in i'd be good to go. Also i had found a hyperpro spring set but having a hard time finding a site to purchase the entire kit from, thats not in japan(they seem to be having so shipping issues from there). plus the hyperpro kit is alil pricey... so ideas???

Well check out my pics. I did a posting of a DIY lowering on my XB12S. Not sure if its similar frame but take a look an see. Cost out of pocket was $40 for some custom cut steel links.

nice bike mailtoome... i c what u did to lower it and ive seen pre-made brackets to do just that and ive also considered it myself(im not to shaby at fab. i do body and paint for a living). but i also wanna drop the front and i thought of installing higher risers on the bars and sliding the forks up in the trees but ive heard thatll cause head shake so im kinda leanin toward springs but thanx 4 the suggestion...

Well as far as the front, thats what I did. 2in pivot risers and lowered the shocks 2 1/4. No problems at all cause I used an aggressive suspension settings. I only weigh 155 so I would think that as long as anyone is around my weight or no more than 200, they should do well. Everyone has there own opinion and many tried to stop me from doing this but its been the best modification I've ever done with great results. Try for yourself before you decide it wont work out for u. I do have a 240 rear wheel so Im not sure if thats the reason my ride is excellent even thru turns. It actually rides better than stock.

How much lower do you want to go?

Ss shock is the same length as a R/S shock but has the same reservoir body and line as the X so that could be possible to swap with the front Forks [up]

Here you can see the reservoir line coming out of the body is different, I ended up using just the spring since I didn't want to cut into my frame for the straight out.

i really only expect to get an inch lower. yeah i wondered if the ss shock would work since they have interchangable sub frames with X but i was worried that the spring weight (load carrying ability if you'd like) might b lower on a lightning than a uly, good thought anywho
