My low fuel like came on while on a road trip on my 08 xb12. it ran out of fuel 5 miles later which kind of shocked me. I was able to get gas and all that trash, I have a new battery in it, and I cant get it to start, it turns over, just does not crank. The fuel pump does not activiate when the bike is turned on, and I am very lost. Can anyone help?

Sounds like your fuel pumps gone...Check the connections to your fuel pump.

Does the engine throw any codes at you? You can use ecmspy to check for codes if you have the ecmspy cable or try this if you don't. Error 3-3 would confirm its your fuel pump.

ive cycled the kill switch a bunch of times, its not that. i was thinking about the fuel pump but i can get it to turn on every now and then, im confused on why. ill go check those connections. i dont have any codes coming at me. but ill try the link you sent me. thanks guys. if anyone else has more opinions please send them, knowledge, nuts and bolts fix everything

Check the fuel pump fuse. You ran the Pump dry so it got hot........ Hot pump = blown fuse. Fuse should blow before the pump . Down side is since it has gotten that hot the odds of it going bad totally just went uP. Electric fuel pumps require fuel to keep cool deprive them and they will get pissy real quick.

I did the same thing on my 04 xb12, it was my relay. Swap them around to see if the fuel pump will work to be sure. It has been about 2000 miles ago, with no sign of fuel pump failure since.

thanks alot guys especially to freak2180 and clayton; it was the fuse and it saved me alot of hassle, thanks alot, bike runs great now
