Had this thing when i was riding my previous bike (a ducati monster). Knew it was a Randy Roberts replica (Kenny Roberts brother). I left it alone for a while, now im bringing it outta the garage again since it matches quite nicely-----------now i have poeple basically bombarding me with "dude thats a rare piece" and everything-------its an rr4 and i was told they also made an rr3 and rr5 but not sure if thats accurate and what the differences are in them? It is a corsair and ive also been told its structurally the same helmet as the corsair V and a pretty expensive bucket when they were being sold a few years ago

anyways........anyone wanna chime in?

did they offer up any other details as to why it was rare? i'm curious. good looking helmet.

About a year or so ago when I bought my icon (Variant), this guy at the local shop was a total guru. Telling me I was an idiot to switch to the icon. I told him I was hanging onto the arai....but anyway he said Kenny Roberts lesser known brother Randy Roberts wore this helmet (the rr stands for Roberts replica). Randy's helmets looked somewhat similiar to his brother Kenny's helmet except the eagle on the side was red silver and blue. Apparently those were somewhat rare (the red and blue) but the yellow like this one (according to the guru) is "super rare". And probably about five or six years old.

Well, you've got some spurious information.

It's a Kenny Roberts Junior replica. "rr" in the model designation had nothing to do with it being a replica. I've had two Colin Edwards replica rr4s. The various RRs predated today's RR Corsair.

Like the Edwards helmets, which were offered in the same graphic scheme but different colors, this one came in at least three colors: Black/blue, black/blue/red, black/yellow. As to the age, you should be able to find the date of manufacture either on one of the straps or under the liner on a label on the shell. My guess is that you're about right on the age.

HTH!

Ya I had someone else talk to me about it at the Starbucks tonight......his info was sounding a lot like yours. So I'm thinking the guru last year at the bike store was a little off haha. Either way I blacked out my firebolt and the black and yellow matches pretty nice, and its light as as feather. I also haven't mentioned that I bought the helmet on eBay BUY IT NOW for THE OURTAGEOUSLY INSANE PRICE OF $50!!! apparently the guy had no clear what kind of quality arai is!!!
