Here is a quick little write up of how I removed my header by removing the tail.
I placed all hardware back into correct locations while removing, I believe its better then using bags and labeling. It only took me about 1 hour to get the header off.
-Spray header bolts and o2 sensor's with PB Blaster or WD40 the day before.
-Remove exhaust pipe first.
-Remove seat and passenger seat.
-Remove rear tail plastic fairing screws (2-screws on upper subframe rail nearest to frame, 1-under the passenger seat on subframe rail, and 2- along lower underside of subframe)
-Remove tail plastic fairing and disconnect the pass. seat lock by removing phillips head screw.
-Disconnect and remove battery.
-Remove the 4-Hex head bolts holding sub frame to frame. (place a chair next to bike to lay subframe on, this will eliminate a lot of extra work.
-Remove lock nut and washer from the brake fluid resavoir. KEEP UPRIGHT
-Remove the subfrmae under pan screw on left side closest to where the brake line comes into subframe.
-Feed resavoir out and zip tie to one of the subframe mount bolts (see pic).
-Place jack under bike, jack to bottom of engine, placing only minor lift on bike. (this is to support bike when removing shock.)
-Remove lower shock bolt and make lose upper.
-Rotate shock up.
-Remove 4- screws that hold fan in.
-Disconnect electrical connector and remove fan.
-Remove forward and rear O2 Sensor's (I just used and open end box wrench.
-Remove forward 2 header bolts.
-Now to the rear. One of the nuts look impossible to get to, but if you use a 6" extension and a swivel, you can go up from under the frame or in threw the fan portal.
-Remove both rear nuts.
-Remove header.
-It's a good idea to replace gasket while you have it off.
-Just go backwards to put it all back together.
