I have a Hawk that I took off my 06 12SS to put a new Hawk on and I have it for sale if anyone is interested. I have to mention that the baffle on the inside has vibrated loose and is a bit too large to remove. Randy tells me that it does not hurt anything by having it loose and removing (if you can) won't hurt it either. It could use some touch-up and it is has a very small dent but otherwise it was removed to repair my kickstand and I had a spare Hawk that I just decided to put on. I hoping someone can put it to good use and I was thinking $100 plus shipping. Pics will be up sometime tomorrow.
Thanks!

My baffle inside came loose too. I was able to grab it with a pliers and hit it with a blow torch through the exhaust opening. The baffle broke in half and i was able to take both pieces out. Now I have a lighter exhaust. [up]

Got the exhaust this morning! Exactly as Ferris described, even better condition than my stock(Stock has the huge dent in the front like most) Imma take it to a buddies and have the baffle pulled tonight Im hoping, and slammed onto my bike first thing tomorrow!

Thanks Again Ferris! An absolute pleasure to do business with. He was even going to send it w/o payment to make sure I was happy with it. NO NEED! If a fellow Bueller cant trust another then what has this world come too?

Just got off the phone w/Randy from Hawk. I see why everyone RAVES about his service and how he stands behind his work. Knowing I bought this exhaust from another Bueller and not him, He still gave me the BEST customer service I have ever experienced, and thats no exaggeration.

Gave me great advice on how to pull the noise silencer. And said that even if I couldn't get it out, send the can to him, he would pull it for me and send it back on his dime. Thats a stand up guy, and how EVERYONE should do business. If there is ever ANYTHING that Randy at Hawk can supply me with for my bike, that others offer, my business will go to Randy.

Just wanted to drop my testimonial on how awesome that guy is and that he really does stand behind his work and products 150%.

[up] Randy, You got my business for LIFE!

Thank you Thaloc...you made it just as easy to do business with, which is why I would have gladly waited to make sure you were happy. Enjoy!!!!

Everyone should take at least 30 minutes to just talk to Randy not only because he is so knowledgeable AND a genuinely nice guy but he is totally behind his product.

So I got the silencer out with a little, muscle, patience, and a good set of channel locks. How easy is a hawk to install? I only have a pitbull rear stand for my Buell, ya'll think that is enough? Or should I just take it to my Mechanic dude and have him slap it on for me?

Thanks in advance!

-Jon

I installed both of them each time and the first time, Randy stayed on his bluetooth as I was on mine, and walked me through it. Told me what tools to get and guided me through it. Has anyone not heard how freaking cool Randy is? It was a breeze and took me only about 30 mins the second time. The rear stand should be enough. My stupid kickstand had to be reinstalled and I was able to put the exhaust back on with the rear tire leaning up against a pole...LOL
There are some specific tools that will help so you don't have to pull anything off and I think someone mentioned there was a walkthrough on how to do it but I would be glad to help if you want!

What specific tools will I need? And any idea where the walkthough is?

I dig my mechanic, but I dig a padded wallet better.

I removed the chin fairing, pulley cover and the bracket attaching the exhaust to the header with nothing specialized. I did get a rubber mallet in case the that header bracket got stubborn but what helped me was and extender to my ratchet to reach the brackets holding the exhaust in place. I pulled the chin fairing and pulley cover first. I placed a phone book with towels underneath so that when I removed it from the headers and undid the exhaust brackets, it had something to rest on. I tried to leave the brackets in place so I would not have to reinsert them into the guides and when I installed the exhaust I could just slide them around the exhaust, position them and tighten them. I found that the ratchet extender helped me get to the brackets so that I did not have to pull anything else off but when you tighten them back up, slide then to a spot where you can get to the brackets with out having to use the extender. Since mine is a 12, I reattached the exhaust valve cable just like on the stock one but it wont hurt it if you decide not to....Does that help?

I looked but could not find the walkthrough but I found that YouTube has several videos on how to do it if you do a search there and since you pulled the baffle, I found this link for a homemade silencer.

Just in case it got too loud. One thing I didnt do after I installed it was a TPS reset...fyi

I just dropped it off at my engine guy. He'll have it back tomorrow, I woulda done it myself but im working all day today and wanted it for our group ride tomorrow. I did give him instructions on the TPS reset, i have literally never reset the TPS since I have owned my bike. So im hoping tomorrow I pick up a whole new beast.

This will be the last performance mod I will do to the Buell. All the rest of the dough I dump into it will be into suspension.

Are you loving it?????????

Thaloc

Holy **** man! Throttle response is much more crisp. I used to sit at just about 4k revs, 5th gear, at 80mph. Now im almost down to 3.5k revs. The low end, mid, and top end feel like it pulls much stronger. And that's all just performance, dont get me started on the sound. Imma about to lube up my 'bolt and make love to it.

I KNOW WHAT YOU MEAN!!!! I felt the same way the first time I heard it on my Lighting...Everytime I felt like I had to spend more money, I would just go turn the throttle over and say to myself, if I only had one thing I could afford to do, EVER, this is it.
Randy IS THE MAN!

i liked the sound of my hawk more after I pulled the baffle. I also jammed some coarse steel wool in between the two layers of metal inside to stop any metallic vibrating sound. Now I have a loud ass but tight sounding exhaust.
