Wow, just read the 'First Ride' review on Motorcyclist mags website. They raved about the 1190 and kinda trashed the 1125, the handling, the power, the ride quality. I wanted to by a 1125R/CR next spring and mod it over time to the 1190 spec. They're claiming a totally different bike, just the same base motor to start with. Has anyone ridden the new 1190RS? does it really handle that much better than the 1125's?[confused]

Comparing a $12k bike to a $40k bike isn't even worth doing. The new one is an evolutionary step forward, but for the average guy, the 1125 is a damn fine bike. Had mine for 3 years now, glad I got it when I did.

I don't expect the $12k bike to be all that the 1190RS is, but I am trying to figure out how to get close (I know, relative term) with mods performed by myself. I was just so suprised to hear them talk about how poor handling the 1125R was.
Everything would have been different if Buell Motorcycles had built this bike first, as he intended, instead of the quirky 1125R that parent company Harley-Davidson demanded in 2007.

Agile at any speed, it's remarkably responsive and dead-nuts neutral even under very aggressive trail-braking-the exact opposite of the heavy-steering, slow-turning 1125R.

So my issue is, am I starting with the wrong bike as a base point. I can't afford the 1190RS, or the KTM RC8, or the Ducati. If I can get a base frame and suspension geometry close, I know that I can get the power out of the Helicon design.

The cast aluminum frame looks similar to the 1125R, but is actually a new design, a new swingarm, which incorporates a chain drive instead of belt 1125R.

the new frame has adjustable rake by using cups in the triple trees. the article said that the wheelbase was longer also. The radiators have been changed to a more conventional/location design also. This would lower the center of gravity in the front end and change steering effort and inertia.

I had a dream about riding my XB last night. The only thing was that I had put the 1190 motor into it. Don't know how it happened or if its possible but it was awesome. :D

Give it some time EBR cannot use the motors from HD anymore so most likely the next line of bikes will have 1125s but you never know.

Future EBRs
Definitions are speculation at this point

RX- Race
SX- Naked street (the City X's are XB9SX currently
AX- Adventure

Love my lightning but am excited about what the future holds!!!!!!

In related 1190rs news got this in my e-mail the other day: It's a red one (bad pic, but you can see the tail clearly)

The 1190rs is a totally new bike. They just started out with the same engine as the 1125 .. RC8 and 1190RS is NOT the same bike.

But they look so much alike to me. And they both have the same size engine would make meany people believe that their the same bike.

They don't look alike to me, but then again everyone sees what they see.
