Well i made it and got 3 or four passes in and met up with Bossnova and his wife.
Just as we where starting to have fun...
I was at Deals gap and coming back across the foothills parkway i got system voltage and check engine. quick scroll 12.1 volts a rev and started charging again.
few more mile volts started dropping.
pulled off unplugged the headlights.
and a later bump start i got back to where we were staying.

Huge thanks to Sportbikeforhire who trailed my bike back to asheville for next to nothing.
Now the real pain do i try and get it fixed under warrenty or send it back to custom rewind??
I was going to ride 735 miles back home monday this sucks....

Details on the bike had 4,800 miles since the rewind and f00 regulator.
less than 1000 on an amsoil and filter change.
I talked with custom rewind he shed some light on the new beta test larger gauge wire and admitted it's all trial and error.
there is a chance the magnetic feild is just to strong and a new rotor may need to be installed to fix this.
Gary is very stand up and will help me in any way he can.
He also noted max rewinds is three the strip and baking process takes a toll on the core...

sorry your trip got cut short :( . RT keep us up dated
on your progress. If it makes you feel any better I have been with out my bike for 7 weeks!!!!!![mad][mad]

It's in knoxxville and there trying to find a stator my local dealer in Michigan has three and offerd to overnight one...

Bummer RT, sorry to hear that your trip has been cut into. Hopefully they can get her fixed up and back on the road soon!

Just got home myself- enjoyed meeting and riding with you guys. BUT- I think your charging system problems were contagious. Thursday I got mine hot driving up around Cades Cove (BIG mistake) and it started acting up. Had to jump it off twice and had Batt light intermittently all the way home that night. Bike started the next morning but very hard.

I think I need the f00 VR upgrade. If the stator was bad I don't think I would be getting any volts at all.

Sorry Alan that's one leg off the stator.
The battery likely recharged it self over night.
It's easy to check the connector I showed u by the air box.
Check a/c volt across pins 1-2. 1-3 2-3 if my memory is right shouldbe 20 volts idle 40 volts at 5k rpms.
I am planning to try this regulator next.

That's a switching and actully turns off legs when there not needed

They must used ups not fedex so no saterday delivery should have my bike Monday

also fellow buellers.. if you ever have trouble at the dragon.. make sure you head down to wheelers to let him check it out. he is one of the best motorcycle mechanics i have ever met. you WILL NOT find a better price on maintenance. we went up and my buddy pulled his bike off the trailer and started it up.. ran fine, soon as he tried giving it gas it stalled. come to find out all of the carbs were full of water. he pulled them off, flushed them put them back on, synched all the carbs, and set up the suspension according to the rider. all in all four hours of work, and he charged him 80 dollars. i never thought i would see this bike drive the way it did but anyone who has delt with wheeler will tell you hes a stand up guy!!!

did your vr go out too? or just want to switch to the series style?

I have stopped in there- seems like a good guy.

I met wheeler plenty of times and he is a great guy.
I know he can't get these stators yet we've talked about them.
RR is fine i just think the switching one will help more.
ATM I am about to blow a gasket.
On the way back to Asheville last night pulling out of a ret area on i40 the drive belt snapped.
I had to play frogger with 18 wheelers to get it and push it back to the rest area.

Triumph are looking better everyday

I'm in love with the 675 daytona I really prefer having fairings.
Road one on saterday very unique and smooth.

Smokey mnt hd. Put a belt on my bike using a Xb paddle stand....
Trashed my Ebr stickers and scratched the swing arm...
I took it back and asked WTF???
He checked into it only stand they had and told me to order a new pair of stickers and send them the recite they will reimburse me.

So hopefully I can find a gap in weather and make the 700 mile treck home

RT,
What did the yuck-yucks say at half dead? I had a similar issue and it turned out to be the main groud loose at the block or chassis according to the yuck-yucks at Adamec in Jacksonville Fla. If the stator isnt the only issue, you may want to inspect there too.
On a better note, how was the Dragon? I had a blast there in May and my group and I are headed back in Sept for our second go at it this year. We have been going in the spring for about 6-7 years and started going a second time last year. I adore that road. You should check out either PunkinCenterinn.com or Punkincentermotorcycleresort.com for accomodations next time. both places are west of Tallassee (9 miles from overlook at the top, maybe 6-7 miles past Foothills Pkwy)and the Dragon Pit BBQ resteraunt is owned by the folks with the inn, they bend over backwards for the friendlies!

Like the title says.. The Good and the Bad. Here are some pics before the "Bad" LOL

Nice pics Bossanova, its kinda funny how in the first picture of all three of the bikes, we are all standing in the background behind the bikes. and that were standing in the order that our bikes are in :) I didnt even realize Denise was taking pics of us. It was nice to meet you guys and get to ride a bit b4 someones bike thru a temper tantrum lol

I noticed that when I was loading it and mentioned it to Denise LOL. Also weird that we never actually made phone contact but that day Denise and I rode into Deals gap parking lot exactly at the same time Rob was pulling in. I followed him in and parked right in the spot next to him. I got it on video...
[confused]

The bad LOL. Was following this guy on the Dragon 7/23/11. He was pulling a WAY over loaded/top heavy trailer (yes that's a window unit A/C and a self contained 12V cooler up on top). Got a little too cocky for the photographer and flipped his trailer, sending him into the right side ditch. He was all right but he really f'd up his trailer and GW.

Lots of help now. Wife walking around picking up this dudes wine coolers and shit. We got him out of the ditch, he hooked it all back up and went on his way.
