I've got an 2004 xb12r. just turned over 16,000 miles. It stumbled twice on me, so I did a tune-up (plugs, oil change, air filter clean) that I wanted to do anyways. The bike has an exhaust, k&n, and race ecm. At 60 mph at 3 grand it stumbles VERY badly. to the point where it almost stops running. The engine light flashes on and goes off usually. I just parked it from my test ride because it was getting very bad. It seems electrical, and something major. any ideas???

The lights/dash dim also, which indicates electrical. I regularily run sea-foam through it.. My first thought was a wire hittin the frame of block, any ideas where to look? I'm new to these bikes and electrical is my weakest trait.

yes up to 07 you need ecm spy to reset. but if ypu lights are dimming i would check all grounds make sure your batt has a good charge. im not sure but i think your voltage regulator could make it run shity if it wasnt puting out proper voltage?aslo if your eng light is going on i would get a cable n read the code your throwing.that would tell you for sure. without your just guessing

When you start your bike you get about a four second engine light. If it comes back on or stays on longer there's a code so you know there's a problem.

However, if that's not happening, you've got a ground issue.

If your clock is resetting, you're losing electrical power.

There is no engine light, except when the problem occurs and does NOT stay on. I was going to check the wires for bad connections or bad grounds for starters, but there's quite a bit of wiring for a bike.. The clock doesn't seem to be resetting.

fixed! for everyone elses knowledge- it was a bunch of loose wires and fuses. It apears it rattled everything loose.

I was having the same issue a day or two ago, I found some lose wires I tightened down and I hope that cures it...
