Is it possible to install a xb12s engine in a xb9s? Everything but the oil lines look the same. Is the wiring harness the same?
Thanks

I do believe that they are slightly different, but I will leave it to the Xperts we have here on BuellXB!

possible? yes.
I think it's more dependent on the year though...
for ex: it may be easier to swap an '06 (12) into an '04 (9) than swapping an '08 (12) into an 07 (12).
This is just an example, as they made some pretty big changes to the bikes in '08.
It's definitely possible. you may be able to find more info on "TheOtherForum" *ahem*. This topic has been discussed several times over there. but, they again, that forum (badweb) is dang near impossible to search.
Good luck!

it's possible, ask rrh or give me about a week before I start tinkering on my 9 and do comparisons
give us an idea of what years your thinking about swapping. also be aware that if you do this you might have a lot of hassle to register it depending on the state

If you do an 08 you need the new throttle body, possibly swingarm depending if you have the newer one or not. ECM, wiring harness, voltage regulator, oil cooler.
If you go with the 07 an earlier just the engine new ECM and the 12 throttle body.
So for the money do an 07 xb12 or earlier.

Oh and with the 08 you need the 08 throttle cables.

Let me correct myself. Right now if you own a 04 or newer and your gonna put the 04 swap in it yes just the motor throttle body and ECM but if you go with the 03 your gonna have to change the front sprocket to the 04 and up. Do you get what I'm saying?

So if I have a complete engine, sprocket and all it will swap easy. Think of it like this I have 2 complete bikes, if so I have everything to swap??
Thanks

youll need the 04 belt and rear sprocket too correct? i mean it may not be 100% necessary but it would pro long the life of the belt to buy an 04 if you dont have it with the new engine
