I really dont like the front headlight/fairing. If I could put a Firebolt nose and that id take it in a minute, specs are amazing.

I think that thing looks terrible. I'll take the horses, but leave that styling. Interesting handlebar config though. Wonder if that would fit on the 12s

The 1125CR looks so ugly... my god!!!
Honestly, the Ktm Venom smokes the 1125CR so easy.
What are they doing..[down]
The only thing happen here is that the aftermarket makers will see $$$. It hurts to say it, they are losing this battle. Leave that 1125 (Rotax) platform to the KTM, Aprilia and Ducati. Rework the XB platform to the core, give us a higher power air cooled engine with compressor(/turbo) as option (for super sports).
Dah,.. i wish i wish...

NOMORE4s4ME

Yep, and stole the headlight right off the Suzuki B King. Another ugly bike. Sometimes I think the great styling of the XBs was just an accident. Oh well. At least I have mine already.

The worst of all is that the hardcore companies (often skilled and wonderful people) don't like the 1125 either. Who does? Heck, it's a mistake and an ugly one too...

BuellPartsGuy
07-22-2008, 03:20 PM
Give it a little while guys. I remember when everyone said the same things about the whole XB line in 2002 when they came out. Now look at them.

Plus, you cant keep the same **** around forever guys, they have to expand and innovate somehow.....

Thaloc
07-22-2008, 03:23 PM
Ur right that does look like a bandit front end....Still, if u put a Firebolt upper fairing on there, would be sweet

NOMORE4s4ME
07-22-2008, 03:32 PM
I dont think that bike will ever grow on me. I've been looking at the 1125R and trying to like it because its a Buell. I've seen them in person...and I just cant. And now they make this....thing....out of the 1125 platform. Its just plain ugly. They could have gone a thousand different dirrections to change it up. The one they chose was probably one of the worst. If you like it great...but I would never spend my money on that thing.

One of my joes walked in as I was looking at the 1125 and said "oooh, is that the new Batman bike?"

With every other Buell design, I see function over form. A lot of people think the XB's are ugly, but they function very well with all the engineering involved in them. I look at the 1125's the same way.... I personally don't think they look that bad, I like them because they are different.

LeFox
07-22-2008, 06:27 PM
they took the xb12s out of the line for the 1125cr [confused]

come on, just another front fairing (which reminds me of the lazareth bike (http://www.gizmag.com/go/8183/picture/38965/)) doesn't make another bike and certainly not a cafe racer!
atleast with the xb 'r' & 's' they make a change to the tail...but with the 1125 you just get another front fairing [smirk]

i'm actually very dissapointed...:o

I really don't like the air scoops on the CR. They make it look like a football player...really big up top and small on the bottom.
In my opinion they should have stuck the helicon motor in a SS chassis, added the new gauges and headlight assembly combined with the new brakes and voula. Everyone who have been more impressed I think.
On another note I think the they blacked out the engine too much on the 09 models. I think they could have added the black to the tail and side rails but left the engine and forks alone.
The color combos are great in all models and it seems that the accessories have grown a little bit.
Overall I think its a step in the right direction for Buell.

I agree with Lefox. Calling it a cafe racer is just going to embarrass Buell. Normally, Buells look completely original, but nooo...

I don't think that is a cafe racer at all either.
This is a Cafe Racer

Am I the only person who finds it utterly sexy?

Edit:
Come to think about it, Buell basically changed everything that people have been complaining about.

Plain Speedo, changed.
Mirrors are pain in the ass, changed.
Ugly cheese grater, changed.
1125R fairing complaints, changed.
No 6th gear, changed.

I love the handlebars. And I looked at the picture from the front (just like you're looking back to it from a car) and I find it insanely intimidating, which is awesome. I said Id buy a 1125R if they changed the fairing; that came with the CR and Im sticking to my word.

@ LeFox: They changed the fairing and the handlebars, which is sort of the same deal between XB S and R. (Other than the seat cowl which both the CR and the R have)

I'd say its a step up from the XB line IMHO, performance-wise and looks-wise.

sorry, still don't like it.
what i like about the xbs is not only the technoligy, it's the seating position, small wheelbase and the fact that the bike is short, looks like a toy but is a beast is sheeps clothing.

the position on the cr is to far forward, i don't like the tail and i don't like the handlebars and i don't like the hamster-cheaks, dumbo-ears, whateveryouwannacallit.
last but not least, i don't like the engine...the bloody thing has less torque than the current xb. i'm a torque rider, don't want to go above 8000rpm to experience something. they should have used a tuned vrod engine or something :o

Hmm, I suppose you have very good points on the seating position, wheelbase, and the whole beast in sheeps clothing =p.

Come to think of it those were the main reasons I bought my XB, along with the WTF-Torque :p.

I respect your opinion on the CR, but I still think its an overall solid bike.

Having said that, I really don't want to see the street-fighters being cut out of production. I love my XB to death, and I cry tears of joy every time I wash the bike and look at the airbox. :(

What is more "strange", is,.. is the engine same same, as the 1125R? As the 1125R is mainly good in high speeds (really bad on low rpms.. as is Ktm RC 8)..
Well, it wouldn't suit a cafe racer at all, same with the cockpit/riding position. Seems this bike is a work, not so well thought out.
Regardig the XB's looks!
Most that i meet and know of really thinks the XB's look bad ass.

They have got to do something with the air scoops, uuuuuuuugly. i like the rest, but pls no scoops

Did you see the exhaust outlet on the XB12ss, it like the GP Jardine but shorter!!

I still hate the mirrors...I wish they could have integrated the turn signals into the air-scoops/ugly ass radiators. That bike should come stock with bar ends.

not so much the rpm's but the cornering is unstable at low speeds.
and yep, the engine is the same, it's just a different beltdrive ratio.
1125cr => 2.815 : 1
1125r => 2.593 : 1

i also wonder why they left the front brake caliper red instead of black?

Some pictures of it are better than others...but I'm still not a fan. I'll be ordering the bars when they become available to see if they fit. I also wouldn't mind swiping the digital bits (esp if it has the lap timer in it) but where would it take ambient temperature that wouldnt be affected by the heat of the buell. Even in December its July standing next to a running Buell.

FIDOSOL
07-23-2008, 06:48 PM
Ambient Temperature -- would more than likely be taken from somewhere around the headlight/gauges assembly as heat tends to rise, and that is the only area near the bike that doesn't put off mad crazy heat.

Nice new bike! I don't know yet whether or not I really like the intakes on the side of the new Buell 1125CR street-fighter. They look pretty good on the 1125R, but it seems to loose some of its 'naked sport bike' appeal.

Maybe it will grow on me more over time. It's enough of a major change that I think the XB series Lightnings will hold value and become even more sought after now that we know we won't get another Buell with similar style for at least 7 years or so.

1SexyBuell
07-24-2008, 02:55 PM
I'd take the 1125CR over the 1125R... it does look funny and my first reaction was (what the hell is that!) but that awkward look of the bike actually makes me like it even more... dare to be different [up] :p

Actually I'd like a new tail. It's a new bike, why us an old tail end (same goes for the R). It's been used since 2003, let's go designers if you can think of a new front fairing you can think of a new tail...

dmp0001
07-24-2008, 06:12 PM
I agree about the tail! it looks old, not up to par style wise with the current market

1SexyBuell
07-24-2008, 06:48 PM
I agree as well, change the tail, I also dont like the look of the muffler but hey, just my opinion... the more I look at it the more it grows on me though...

07-29-2008, 02:19 AM
I'm not a big fan of the CR. I wasn't a fan of the 1125r either until I saw one in person and rode it. The CR may grow on me in time (doubt it) but it will never take the place of my want of an 1125r.

i think the 1125cr does not look anything liek a cafe racer but its not ugly and it aint beautiful i love the new additions to the XB's though
beautiful!

Wow, lots of opinions! Looked at the 1125CR today at the Buell demo in Rapid City, SD. I thought it looked great. The scoops actually flow well without the large fairing of the R. Super cool handlebars. I really am not too caught up on the name, the TT is described as a supermoto? so whats in a name? It's just one killer bike and in my opinion has a more appealing look than the 1125R. Good riding position and ergos for me as well(5'7"). I am happy to see Buell trying something new.

XBear9S
08-15-2008, 04:56 PM
I'd have to say that Benelli did a much better job creating their version of the same bike. I don't get what's going on with Buell's design teams. Function is the foundation on which design should be built. But the design itself should have some artistic integrity.

There's officially no Buell in the line-up that I would ever consider buying. Not with my money. Now ifin' I could afford to completely customize and modify one, then I'd be back in the running. But the 1125R and this new Frankenstein version of it are 2 of the biggest disappointments I've ever had with Buell.

I pray for the next round. It's gotta get better...

The single headlight is way nicer than the 1125r light those two big eyes plus the two huge air scoops just make the front of the bike way to big if they can slim down the fron and make it cleaner like a real street fighter it would be tha baddest production naked bike
