Bike was surging stalling backfiring etc. Starts only a minute or less after starting down the street. Issue began with no warning. Check DTC's got code 11 (TPS short to ground). I'm assuming i should trace back wiring from tps to ecm and check for worn wiring.? If i dont find ne can this code simply mean the sensor is bad? I would b surprised if there was worn wiring on my bike its pretty low mile. Like 7800 miles. Ne suggestion NEONE?

the tps wires are known to fail at the connector.

Sounds like I have a similar problem with my bike, mine is going to the doctor (hal's harley in milwaukee), they have "reliable" buell techs left (hopefully). Hopefully I don't eat my words there.
I just don't have the inclination to tear mine apart, already put in the new ecm, k&n, and race pipe. That's about all my mechanical abilities can handle

Alright got one comin from Ford. Part #cx1133 (motorcraft). The Tps fits most ford cars from 1986-1991 with a 5.0L V-8

Ok that ford part# fits 04-06 xb12 with a different Throttle Body Pin oreintation 4 o'clock and 8 o'clock. The 07 changed to 1 o'clock and 7 o'clock. Which is a part that i thinked ford made for 93 only mustangs but no longer manufatures. No aftermarket ones r availible in my area and the online photos dont show the pin orientation well enuff. So im goin 2 get a harley one. Possible ford #cx1323(if ne one wants to find one and c if it fits. The harley #is to279.3aa.

Well thought i fixed it... I rplaced the TPS with the harley part, did the reset and so on. Rode the bike 25 miles in a closed loop ran great. Couple days later rode it about 120 miles to Southwest Iowa (used to be 35 miles, the flood fixed that) Stop to see my folks and made it 2 miles after i left there and started surging again. So i tralered it home. Same trouble code 11 TPS short to ground. Pulled the section of harness out that goes to the top of the engine and unrapped it. Couldnt find ne obvious wiring damage. Could be in the bike side of the connecter??? It seems wierd to have a short with no crushed burnt or worn wires. Could it be a bad NEW TPS?? Sugestions plz.

I down loaded the 07 uly service manual did all the instructed tsting in the flow chart. Couldnt ever find an intermitent short of ne kind, everything tested A ok. So manual says replace ECM ne thoughts? Think ill just buy an EBR ecm programmed for my D&D.

Did you ever solve this? I am going through the same thing with my S3. It will throw a code 11, occasionally, accompanied by low RPM, light throttle sputtering.
I replaced the TPS, and it still does it.

well i replaced the ECM as it was the next step according to the service manual if there were no intermitent wiring shorts present but havent it rode it yet(stored for winter).

Mine is doing the same thing. Code 11 and stumbles. Hawk told me to look under seat, Uly's seat touches the ECM. This causes a crack at the connector. Mine is absolutely cracked. I dismounted and moved the ECM down a little and it improved but is not completely gone. New ECM is on the way. Hope this helps someone else. This was a beast to find. It's been to the dealer several times and they all missed it. Thanks to Hawk for the help. BuellyBagger let us know how it started this spring with the new ECM.

Is the seat touching the ECM issue restricted to Uly's?

TSB witha fix came available shortly after this problem was found early in production. The fix is a plastic block that u bolt on with ur ECM to keep the seat from touching it. Block Comes with the low seat if u buy that and mine had it on it with the standard seat when i bought it. I cant find the part on the web but im sure a dealer could get it and i might have a spare somewhere if neones interested... id have to find it.
BTW bike is running great so far with the new ECM from EBR. I've only put about 250 miles on so far the weather hasnt been great, but so far so good. Oh and i did do the TPS reset with ECMSPY with no problems on the EBR ECM.
