I have been known as someone who thinks really far outside the box! Well there is my disclaimer, I have had some issues with my Buell from day one, but it is paid off, resale is low, and well I have not to much to lose.

My initial question is can I put a Rotax bored out 1125 (1190) engine in my XB12SS? I have a couple options this winter because this bike has now become the tinker toy, per se, and has some issues all around. I want to throw a bigger engine in it, maybe more reliable, and better technology. Can anyone help here?

Please feel free to sway me one way or another and if you have done such thing please respond I would like to here how it came out.

Anything is possible but I'll let you know right now the motor won't fit in that chassis without major fabrication

I will let you know that the 1125 being bored out to an 1190 is a very substantial undertaking. There have been a few members on here who have asked EBR if they will be able to make their 1125s into 1190s but EBR said that it is not a simple ordeal. Not quite sure of the specifics, but they pretty much said that EBR can't help out at the moment, and who can blame them. I'm sure that where there is a will, there is a way. If you are willing and skilled enough to do it, or have somebody do it, it can be done. Nobody other than EBR has done it, and only with extensive modification. I am not trying to shoot you down, but people with the 1125s are having extremely difficult times going forwars with this. An XB with a 1125 wold be awesome, but if this is what you want to do, then you eventually will be able to. However, this would not be over a single winter, and it would cost an arm and a leg. Im going to step ff my soap box now, but i wish you the best! Ride safe brother!

You would also have to swap around the rear tire and use a modified 1125 swingarm because the belt is on the other side. You also would have to switch over the fuel injection and ECM, and you need to add an entire water cooling system.

Or you could just use the 1125 swingarm with a 1125 rim

better off buying a salvage 1125 and putting your s stuff on it, you'd still need to do fab work but you're looking at a lot less that way

cheaper and easier to swap out the "look" of the XB front with a salvaged 1125 but I know your looking to play with your payed for XB. Why not rebuild the motor and bore it out. Spend the winter tracing the source of your problems. That's my plan anyway. Good luck
