I have a 2007 buell xb12s

I have a jardine can on it and i cut holes in the air box.

I bought an ECM spy and when i tired to load the "buell 2007 race map" it was saying that i had the incorrect firmware.

so after some googling i just changed the firmware names in the file like someone said to do.

Once i did that the bike just would not start at all. refused and the fan went on very low

Do i need a map for the firmware of my bike? i am totally lost here.

I reloaded the stock firmware and the bike seemed to be fine.

someone please help? i am tearing my hair out..

Sounds like you bricked your ECM. NEVER burn the entire EEProm, ESPECIALLY when the firmware is different. What you should have done was fetch the EEProm from your bike, uploaded the race map only, then burn maps from ECMSpy, that way it is using your original EEProm and same firmware. Hopefully you saved your bike's original EEProm before you did anything.

First thing you should do now is try to burn the factory EEProm back onto your ECM (either one you saved from your bike before you made any changes, or using the factory one also found on the XB Mods site) and see if your bike runs or does anything. If it works then you will be ok.

If that doesn't work then you probably need to buy a new ECM module. If you plan on modifying it then don't buy an EBR ECM because you can't change those with ECMSpy.

Sorry i forgot to say that after i did this i reloaded the stock firmware which i saved (i read all the directions i could) the bike ran fine.

A buddy from another forum gave me these directions

Open ECM spy twice.
Load the Stock EEProm in both.
In one of them, click file and select load map.
Select the race map.
This should change the maps on the stock EEPRom to match the race maps.
Make sure your firmware on the EEPRom screen is the same as stock but the maps are different.
Burn that to your ECM.

So i guess once i am rested up i am going to give that a shot.. thoughts?

You don't really need to load two instances of ECMSpy. Just make sure you use the EEProm that you fetched from your bike, and only the maps from the race EEProm.

I can't remember if the thing you download was the race EEProm or if it was just the race maps. If it was the race EEProm then you just open it in ECMSpy and save the race map to a separate file that you open up into your stock EEProm.

Pretty much do exactly this:
