A few weeks back I basically knew nothing about buells but I ran into a guy riding a buell at the local marina. And I loved the Harley sound and the sleek street bike look. He had a buell xb12s lightning, I was just amazed by it and I fell in love( with the buell ofcourse..) we talked for a couple of hours and I learned a lot of stuff but I couldn't absorb all that wonderful information. So i went home and started obsessing about the buell that will someday be mine!
And that's basically how I ended up in here.
I'm still a newb because I don't know all of buell past and I'm not great with working on bikes but I'm super interested, and as soooon as I have the money I am going to buy a buell. For now I am riding a 1990 yamaha virago 250 route 66...

Welcome to the forum man, and the world of Buells! I am in the same boat. I do not have a Buell, I am simply a lover of the bike. I am also currently saving up money to get the bike I have been dreaming about. I just don't know when that will be.

For now, enjoy learning about the bikes, hearing other people's experiences, mods, ect. Be patient, the right Buell will come your way at the right time!

Yeah man I'm really loving the forum I've skimmed through about 50 pages of this stuff just looking at the modded buell. I'm only 19 just got my first job.. So it's going to be awhile but god damnit I will own a buell sooner rather than later hopefully!

Also I am on my iPhone. Can I post pics from my phone cause I'd love to show everyone my bike and the buell that made me fall in love!

I am not sure how to post pics from an iPhone, as I have a blackberry. But i know that you can. i would love to see the pictures!

Hahahah wow that's a cooincedince! Except I'm making minimum wage at the moment.. Hopefully we'll both be making more soon.. Or at least enough for a buell!

Well damn it, I'll try and get this figured out, either way I'll be able to post some pictures when I get home probably this weekend or something.

welcome to the forum, I had to wait about 1 1/2 yrs before getting my Buell, thanks to Uncle Sam for sending me to the middle east...anyway, I had a DVD from Buell introducing the new line up back in 2004, so for the next year and a half all I could do was was the DVD over and over and over...have had my XB9S since the summer of '06 and still have a grin from ear to ear:D:D:D

There isn't any chance you could burn me a copy and mail that to me could you?

Yeah, i am making a small salary with bonus, but school bills as well as life stuff seem to eat most of my money. All in good time..

thanks dude! yeah Ive only ever seen 2 different xb models on criagslist and both were over 5 grand.
I have no money at the moment but I'm definitely saving for a buell.
As for the trade virago for buell, the virago is in my dads name and he wouldnt let me do that, though it was a goood suggestion

joe: for what it's worth, i have the buell addiction myself as i've always loved sportsters and the sportster look and sound but buells are so much better. i presently have 3 and found them all sniping on craigslist. it's a great place to find good buells. just get one that hasn't been beaten into the ground and you'll have a real keeper.

Joemargrave
09-23-2011, 01:58 PM
Wow! 3 Buells, that's amazing.
Yeah I'm definitely going to start saving now. I am still keeping my eyes open for anything in my area right now. Currently the only xb model in my immediate area on craigslist is a 2006 Ulysses 1200x for $6500 with 4300 miles on it.
I'd much rather have the scg or just the S
I've seen most people talking on here, if your over 6' tall you should get the Ss model but I just don't like how they look as much. I am 6'1 and I love the compact, small look of the scg models.

gtp3800
09-23-2011, 02:29 PM
I wouldnt get an scg if I were you. My bike is an scg and im 5'8. Id say if I was any taller I would get the s model. Sometimes I feel like I am even too big for my bike. and im a small guy!

Where you located?

Hey Burton! You must want a Buell somethin' bad. You've only been on the forum for 2 months and have almost 500 posts! Way to contribute! ( I'm feelin bummed now, took me almost 5 years to post less than 260!) [smirk] Hope you get your Buell soon!!

Joemargrave

Yeah I was thinking the S would be more fit for me especially because I don't want to look like I'm on a pocket bike being 6'1!
But I am located in northen California, more specifically the bay area.

That's what I was shooting for, something around 3500 dollars. Even though that will take months to save.. I agree it'll be worth the wait!
It's just hard to be on here looking at all these amazing buells than going back to reality where I only ride a 250 :(

Wow guys! Joemrgrave, Burton I'm gonna tell you this. I use to live in Poland and made about $180 a month. One day I saw a Buell on TV. It was Lightning. I never heard of Buell before, I had no idea what it was but I wanted one, bad really bad. But my poor salary kept me in check... I never knew I will live in US. Now hear I am riding my XB whenever possible. The moral to the story is: never stop believing, dreams do come true.

Good luck guys, now your turn to make it happened.

Check my profile for bike's pix.

Welcome to the family! If you ever need anything, there are tons of members who will go out on a limb for eachother. I have wanted a buell since 2005 when I saw one in a restaurant parking lot. I am 19 now, still working my first job, and I have a 2009 Buell 1125R. LOVE IT!

Joemargrave
09-24-2011, 10:25 AM
Wow AFT! haha I cannot wait that long! I'm nineteen now, and just started my first job, only working 20 hours a week. It's going to take awhile before I get a buell... But hopefully not more then a year or two!

I have wanted one since 2005, but I've only been working for about 2 years part time, about 20-30 hours. It's me second bike though, so with school, insurance, and girlfriend, I sold my 06 SV650 and bought the 1125. Best of luck, brother!

Bad doesn't even begin to describe it. I am obsessed. All I can do is post on this forum and read about Buell's, so yes, while you are out riding I am doing my best to hold off my pain by reading and posting. It is kinda sad...500 posts in two months. Should i be ashamed? nahh...

I am working full-time now out of school. I just need to get my girl an engagement ring and then get back on track for saving for my dream bike! Priorities...

Joe, I don't know if you are willing to travel a bit to get a Buell, but try searchtempest.com. It basically finds all the Buells on CL within a chosen mile radius and withing a price maximum of your choice. In the last week or so there have been 3 in my area (Minnesota) that have been asking 3300 or less. they are out there brother, hang in there.
