so here is what the bike looked like two weeks ago... when me and a close buell buddy drove a little over two and a half hours up into deliverance county (more of a joke the town was called nevada city)but it was up a mile and a half dirt country road.

i was originally going to rhino liner the whole bike flat black. but as i was looking at it in the garage it just came to me "urban street fighter"
so i when into widows paint and colored a picture to see what it would look like and with the gold rims it didn't look to bad (would look better with black but oh well)
i am also having some flags made up 1 3" usa and 7 1" japanese zero stickers to put on the side of the frame

squid...looks awesome! how did you do the paint? or is it a wrap? either way it's freaking cool, the "zero" kill stickers...awesome! need to add "Pilot sqiudbuellie" on the left/right sides of the frame just forward of the frame pucks...LOL

How does the other side look? What did you end up doing with the dented frame? Looks like one hell of a fun project that's for sure.

looks like someone wants some credit...dave..
so here is what the tank looked like before the frame puck and paint went on.

i ended up using devcon aluminum putty in light layers to fill in the dent. i was going to fill wield it at first, but didn't want to mess with the temper of the tank.

Looks good brother I have been playing with the idea of doing the red, gray, and black camo on mine! But after wearing nothing but camo for so long I think I am gonna leave the bike black and camo the stripes! Looks sweet though!! Cant wait for the updates

Can you post a write up how did you fix the dented frame? it's a common damage and I'm sure it would be very helpful for others. Thanks.
Bike looks good!

You should paint that beige stuff black. Like the lower fairing and the cluster/headlight mount. [up]

Exactly What I was thinking. Also paint the seat rails black.
squidbuellie
09-24-2011, 09:23 AM
i have been throwing around the idea of painting the rails and modular graphite black and doing camo on the cheese grader.
i have also been throwing the idea of trading dusty the tail for his "R" but im just not sure if that will be to much como over kill.
magic..
Can you post a write up how did you fix the dented frame
i'll do a small write up with pictures in this post on how i fixed the frame and swingarm

Loving the combo, how did you prep the plastics? How many clear coats are on that?
squidbuellie
09-24-2011, 12:00 PM
the paint that was already on it was a good base on the plastic. im not sure what paint he used. so i scuffed it and painted over it.
but to answer your other question i used all flat colors with a coat of clear between each color (it helped to stop the tape from pealing up the paint) black/clear white/clear then gray color sanded it then 3 coats of clear after. it only took about 8 hours to do and thats with drying time but not the last coats of clear.

what kind o putty did u use on the frame? looks like duraglass?
DustyXB
09-24-2011, 12:05 PM
Honestly, with my want to do the trade aside, I think it would look good. The longer tail with the snub nose would give it a more "ima blast these Bitches"/badass look.

devcon aluminum putty

so here is what the swingarm looked like when i bought the bike
http://www.buellxb.com/buell_images/8854_20110924164914_L.jpg
i removed the rear caliper then sanded the scratches out of the swingarm with 80 grit then went to 120 then 220 grit
http://www.buellxb.com/buell_images/8854_20110924165147_L.jpg
http://www.buellxb.com/buell_images/8854_20110924164950_L.jpg
i then pulled the rear tire and put the bike on jackstands (i didn't want to jack my pitpull up i want to keep them pony boy)
and sprayed a couple of light coat of graphite grey and vulua
http://www.buellxb.com/buell_images/8854_20110924165042_L.jpg
put it all back together just make sure you dont drop the caliper when you go to put it back together (see scratch) and your done.
it took me about a hour to do.

so here is the short story behind the bike this dude will say his name is doushebag let a friend we'll call him foolish....ride his 04 buell with a bald front tire(through the wear bars and showing cord)
http://www.buellxb.com/buell_images/8854_20110923163222_L.jpg
and a rear bald tire (with chunks missing)
http://www.buellxb.com/buell_images/8854_20110923163316_L.jpg
needless to say foolish went down on the bike on a mountain back road and this is what happened to foolish

so i would like to give a shout out to "nativeXb12Rbuell" for his write up on how to remove your header with out rotating your motor.
also would like to give a "anrkizm95" a rep point for making the job a little easier.
http://www.buellxb.com/Buell-XB-Forum/Do-It-Yourself-Buell-Mods/HOW-TO-REMOVE-HEADER-NO-ENGINE-ROTATE-NEEDED-with-pics/2/
so this is what you get when you pay $1100 for a buell a whole lot of research and a hole lot of wrenching.
i was missing the two bolts on the back header so i pulled the header to put new exhaust gaskets on and also to check to see if the exhaust studs were bent or damaged

no..i'm not into the long distance relationships...
Wanna do a fixer upper together?
but if you have the money and want to do it yourself.i might have something for you.
oh and also i didn't offer it on this board because most of us have buells already. since everybody is so spread out. i wanted to cut out the dreamers and tire kickers and sell it local so i might have another buell buddy to ride with.
