OK, so got a new regulator in the mail, along with the updated connector to replace my sloppy 77 connector still on the bike. The new regulator already has the updated connector installed. When installing the opposite half on the wiring on the bike, how do I determine which wire goes into which hole? It's pretty obvious that the wires are both black, and I don't want to fry another regulator.

My thoughts were to install the new regulator, see which side of the connector tones out on ground, and then see which side of the bike wiring tones on ground. Put those two wires on the same sides of the connector and I should be fine. Does the regulator ground out locally once installed, or does it just ground out via the connector that i'm trying to figure out.

So, in retrospect, either I am a bit slow today, or I had a bit too much to drink and hope that everything sobers up before working this tomorrow.

yeh, throw a test light on it when u hook it up; if u get volts (light on) then wire the pos(+).
