Ok, Ok, your like the 10th person to say that so I will take them off. Maybe get some Buell or Showa stickers made out of black refletive tape for that spot.

Most of this stuff is over engineered anyway. Extra parts=extra weight. :D

:D:p Does it really matter what goes where, Im assuming as long as it has locktite on it and I torque it to some random spec it should be alright.

If it looks right, it's right, throw the extra parts at children.

Sweet!!!!![up][up][up]

I may have missed this in past posts, but is this a new cover or did you do this yourself? Either way, where did you get it or how did you cut the buell out?? Very tasty open air conversion.

Can't emphasis how nice that is.

I wanted something different so I cut the air box out myself. I used a dremel tool and a small air saw (kinda like a reciprocating saw but the blade is only about 3") then sanded it smooth with a medium file and 100 grit sand paper. I used some metal screen that I painted with some rubberizing paint for underneath.

SUPER NICE[up] I like the idea of cutting out the buell logo. I would be to afraid of rain getting in to do that but i still like it. cant wait to see the finished product:D

Bad fu@#*ng ass!! I really like what you've done with the airbox[up]Talk about thinking for yourself!Job well done, can't wait for the final product. And just me being me,but in Cali, there are a lot of Harley riders that will not accept the Buell as one of their own,so I realy dig the use of Harley colors(orange and black)if that was your intention.Piss em' off.Anyhow, job well done;)

The colors took me a month to pick. I do like the color scemes on the Nightsters but I think the Orange and Black contrast the best and Im kinda partial to Orange (go Gators) so I went with it.

I painted my helmet too (its my work helmet not my Shoei) , I need to clean up the lines a little but it came out alright. Some Pics......

Ha, great minds think alike. I thinking of cutting out the Buell logo too, but was apprehensive because of the rain issue. Thanks for the heads up on the prefilter, would have never thought of that!
So are you running just a standard K&N cone filter on the stack?

Great job! Cant wait to see it on the bike.

So are you running just a standard K&N cone filter on the stack? Yea its a K&N on a stock set up. Just a warning - if your going to cut it out the intake is not centered so you will see the servo and the relief for the filter on the right side and it will not match the left.

You can see it in this pic
http://i51.photobucket.com/albums/f364/97FloridaTJ/Buellairboxcover001.jpg

this is the other side without the inner box opened up yet.

Thanks Gator, So you found a prefilter to go over the stock filter? Do you know which one you used?
I dont ride in the rain, but you never know when a shower will pop up suddenly.

I was going to go with a airbox mod to eliminate the inner airbox and servo anyway. I am just waiting for my race ECM to come in(today Hopefully!). Then I can start modding the airbox. I have a Jardine, just got it friday, so I dont want to mod the airbox till I get the race ecm.

I wonder if a regular cone K&N filter could be used rather then the stock one? Can anyone chime in on this?

When do you think you will have your setup done? Cant wait to see pics of the completed bike.

No, I could not find one to fit the Buell filter so I cut out 2 large rectangles and glued them to the wire mesh thats under the openings.

Iv never seen a cone but if you can get one to fit I guess it would work.

Im waiting on the front tire to put the bike back together, its on back order and the bike shop said 2 weeks as of last Friday. Seems there is a shortage of Michelin Pilot Road 2 front tires. Im getting the back tire mounted tomorrow and I still need to repaint the mirrors and the air scoop.
