i searched and searched past posts on here but couldn't find answer. have a 2007 XB12 Uly with stock muffler and cable operated power valve. removed muffler yesterday and put bike on lift to do maintenance and a few mods. am NOT modding the ECM or airbox, nothing along those lines. am planning to send muffler to randy hawkins for usual mod. question is this...muffler has cable operated power valve. when randy returns muffler and i reinstall, do i reconnect valve and just let it be or permanently disconnect? i don't want to do ecm spy or any of that cause i'm not capable of doing it so do i just reconnect valve and run it that way? thanks for the help as always.

I just removed the cable off of mine but left the box plugged in on the intake.

When you get the pipe back, the valve will not be used. You can then remove the cable completely if you want to ( I took mine off too), but leave the servo in the airbox plugged in or else you will get a check engine light. Or you can buy the servo eliminator plug if you want. I just left my servo installed with no problems. [up]

Since it's a Ulysses you can pull it up some out of the way and tie it off in a safe area. It's really hard to reinstall properly if it is completely removed. There's an Emunlator from American Sportbike that will keep the Actuator up on the inner Air Box from throwing a code OR light on. This way you can save the part for if it is needed at some point later. If it is left plugged in and continues to work it will eventually break and they are very costly. Then it will throw a code anyway. Save your part and American Sportbike has a good inexpensive servo Emunlator that does the trick. You can build one also but most buy it and pop it in. Good luck.*Jimi

the emulator is a good idea. My uly would occasionaly throw a check engine light for "amc stuck" i think its code 21, but ne ways HD tried putting tension on the dangling cable to stop that.. didnt work. I removed the cable and servo and ecmspy removed the control.[up]jimi
