I want to do the belt to chain swap on my 07 xb12s but i want to change it up a little bit.

Front sprocket(21 teeth); V-twin # 19-0384 / $13.97

Rear sprocket (51 teeth); (Odessa Fl.) # 827-51 / $63.95 + 6.95 shipping

530 diamond chain; V-twin # 19-0326 / $37.49

Idler pulley; Gates # 38023 / $16.78 (AND its available in ANY autozone in USA!)

Total cost: $139.14 (YES it IS less than the cost of ONE belt!!!!)

I had planned to follow those directions but i want to do a -1 up front and a -2 in the rear. anyone see any problems with me adjusting this list and doing this?

Ive done this exact "kit". The guy that came up with it lives 5 minutes from me and has stated that some of those part numbers have changed for the idler. Either way to answer your question. No it won't be an issue but you may have to slot the idler bracket a bit more, also remember to set the sprockets and idler first then set chain so you know exactly where to cut it, leaving the idler off in this step will **** everything up .

good info guys, I to have thought about the conversion due to the cost of the belt, my xb9 is my 3rd belt driven bike and gotta say it's much cheaper with chain when it comes time for a replacement...there's both pros and cons either way, it's just what you prefer that counts:D

If some of the part numbers have changed, Anyone have the updated parts list?

Have no clue on new part numbers but I went to Tractor Supply and walked around for a bit one day just looking at ****. Found what I believe to be a nylon sprocket, lo and behold it fit right where the stock idler wheel was. No need for the gates idler wheel now. There was no part number on the sprocket so Im no help there but you could also buy one through ebr racing site. The only real issue with this setup is slotting the existing idler bracket (pain in the ass) other than that I've had no issues what so ever

how do you "slot" this pully that you guys are talking about? or what does it consist of?

The slot we speak of is actually the upper hole of the idler bracket. It needs to be elongated in a half moon shape so you can keep tension on the chain.

so you just half moon the idler pully bracket with a dremil?
