Ok, heres the story i bought a race ecm for my bike got it in and went to reset the tps well i could only get it to drop to 1.6 and it felt like it was in a bind so i stopped there and tried to turn it back and it broke. So i guess my question is what all is involved in this repair and where can i get that cable at? thanks again guys.

It probably got caught on one of the bolts on top of the engine. Mine Got snagged there and the insulation wore away from working against the screw. you can probably still adjust whats left of the screw on the throttle body if that part didn't come out.
Take your airbox cover, top and bottom off. Follow the throttle body down from the rubber velocity stack. Under the lip that seals the airbox bottom, you'll see the mechanism that controls the valve in the stack. You should see it move when you turn the throttle. On the underside of that mechanism you'll be able to follow whats left of your idle adjustment cable to the bolt on the end. It will be a real pain to get at. With a long set of needle nose pliers you can probably still adjust that bolt that's at the end of the idle adjustment cable. The bolt adjusts to rest against the plate that will crack the valve slightly open to give you steady idle by allowing enough air in.
When you get your replacement cable, you'll need to thread it into the assemble that way it is now. at the other end (where you adjust it normally ) its just cable tied to the frame.
Before you slap the new one in. See if you have a length of 3/8 hose laying around. Cut it to the length of the cable. Use it as a sleeve for the new cable. That way it will be harder for this to happen again, because the new cable should turn inside the hose, even if the hose is resting against a bolt on top of the engine.
I'll see if I still have the package for the part number if someone doesn't post it.

ok guys.. gimped my way down to the garage. The part number for the firebolt is P011.02AB. I would imagine its the same for the lightnings. You can check with your parts guy just to make sure.

That's what you're looking for... and yes.. This one is not in my bike yet because the parts are hard enough to come by that I am using the ground down old one till it breaks completely lol. This shouldn't count against the parts hoarding rules.

I got mine from a the local harley dealer. It cost about 10 -15 bucks if I remember correctly took about a week and half for them to get it in. ASB doesn't seem to have one. Latus doesn't seem to have one either nor buell parts. Heres the parts request page for the dealer I walked in and ordered it from if you guys get desperate.

I hear you on the Wolfo. It sounds crazy but I buy extras and stock up whenever I have to get a part. That way if any of board members near me need something, i'll be able to hopefully pull one of the shelf and we can get them running in a day instead of having to wait 2 weeks for the part to come in. They order and in 2 weeks I just put the ones they ordered on the shelf for next time. I feel like I am building some kind of specialized shelter for the buell apocalypse.

Yes the parts so far isn't too Expensive at this time. Depends on what it is! In the Next 2/years you might want to Stock up on some of the Bikes stock parts, Wear Items also due to Harley and American Sport Bike and Buellister will start having Hard times finding us whats needed.
Some Engine aftermarket will be around. We as Buellers will have to be Creative on some parts. I have already had my own butt chewed from a few Customers due to the Slowness that is called Harley Davidson/ Buell. I have started to Stock the small Buell stuff. If some wouldn't wait till the last minute before a trip, and get it done early, my job would be easier.
Make you a list and get to it cause waiting may cost you in Time and Money not to mention FINDING It. Me I have been Buying a part Every month Since Erik got Shafted. I know I preach Maintenance! I swear it works. Lubing ALL Cables, Engine Gaskets,Exhaust & Primary Parts & Hard Wearing Items. I've Decided to keep the Firebolt XB12R-08 Buell. SO Damn the Harley Torpedos!Keep it Riding cause those Other Riders are waiting for Buellers to fade.Just the other night at a bike night a dynalow Bike rider said hey didn't Buell go out of Business? I just said Not really, E.B.Racing has it all.Harley just doesn't sell them anymore.Well maybe I imbellished a bit. Ride Safe!*Jimi[smirk];)
