I just installed my EBR ECM for my XB12S and am trying to do a TPS reset. Problem is the lowest my throttle will go is 8.2. Can't get it to zero no matter what I do. Have y'all seen this issue? Let me know what I can do. Thanks.

Take your air box apart and look at your tps cable on the throttle body it may be in a bind, and they will break so be careful.

Nothing has changed with the TPS cable. I took my stock ECM off (which was running fine) and installed an EBR ECM, so nothing mechanically is really different.

When was the last time you did a tps reset?

Hooked up my stock ECM and could get it to zero. Hooked up my EBR ECM and could set it to zero. Wierd. TPS is new reset, but my throttle is set to 7.1 in order to get it to idle 1050 - 1150 RPMs. Is that normal? Bike runs great right now. Will take a longer ride later on.

I know normally your tps should be around 5.1-5.9 i think but thats not to far off what other mods do you have done to the bike?

yea that should be ok its prolly not ideal but would work just make sure the bike is not runnin hot due to being too lean.

Well, if I want to set idle to specified limits, then it will reach 7.1. Unless I set the TPS wrong.

What are you using to reset the tps? I think i remember ebr saying the ecms they sell now are not recommended to used with ecm spy due to a difference in firmware formatting or something like that. I think they recommend have it reset at a dealer using their issued software.

I use ecmspy. No problem connecting.

if the throttle plate is definately closed all the way just reset it the tps sits a little open when it sits on the tangs on the throttle body. they actually read a lil open even plugged in but not attached to the throttle body. Had the same issue when i replaced my tps. the new one read like 4.1 with the throttle totally closed and the idle backed all the way off so i pulled it off with it plugged in and it still read .8 did the reset and set it from there to specs and it ran fine.

Yes some of the EBR Ecms do have Slightly different TPS settings but make [note] of the Settings that work the best for idle,on [Your]Bikes Engine, plus wear on throttle body and Tps sensor needs to be taken into account. The Engine will also idle longer COLD on startup w/ a race style ECM. Be Careful on Enguaging into first Gear with the idle high when cold. DO Not lug the Idle just because it sounds cool. This will lower the oil pressure for Buells 2007 on back, once you reset the TPS after doing this procedure, then Ride the bike for a few miles with some stop and go and see what the Engine Idle does. Hopefully it will stay close to 1,075 to 1,100. Once the bike warms good Runs Smooth then work with the idle.IF your Bike is Running Correctly at the Setting you described just take note and you (may) be able to use the same setting every time. At least for the next 6,000.miles.Ride Safe.*Jimi;)

Mine would only go to 7.1 as well when I turned up my idle I left it and it ran fine.

Well I did notice when the bike warms up, the idle will phase back and forth from 1100 rpm to 900rpm until the bike is warmed up. After that it will idle fine. I also noticed when letting go of the throttle from 4000 rpm (for example) it will take its sweet time going to idle. Maybe this is a side affect? Can this be adjusted with another type of software?
