Im not sure if this is like some sort of oil catch can or crank case vent or even some sort of smog part
(i hope not). It looks stock but when i search for stock 07 Buell xb12scg none of the bikes have this part on them. Could anybody give me an answer?[confused]

It is a emission canister. It is meant to catch gasoline vapors from the in-frame gas tank, and route it back to the intake. I am not sure where the return is connected. My bike had this ugly thing also, and I believe all California model has this. I took this out and used a plastic tube to connect the two pipes. It raised some confusion at the dealer when they tried to reflash the computer.
My only complaint after taking this out - the garage smells for gasoline after a long hot ride.

Be sure to save it, it will need it when California starts emissions testing. Take it off and it will look like this...

The only thing I can add is if you fill the tank completely full, and then park it, extra gas will sometimes flow through the charcoal filter and leak out the overflow tube onto the kickstand. Then you come out later and look at a huge puddle around the kickstand and say wft is that?

Yup. Also filling my bike completely to the cap makes it spit and sputter. It shows an "always rich" code, and puffed black smoke through the tail pipe.

Weird, Mine doesn't do this at all. I actually sit on my bike to ensure I get that LAST drop in the tank. Never gives me an issue

yes, ALL Cali bikes come with that stupid can... I took it off my XB.. I think my blast still has it on.. Not sure.
When I took mine off I noticed my bike's exhaust smells a lot more of gas, since I left the hoses just plugged the intake one.

Drop it man! It wont benefit or hurt you either way. Unless you have an emissions inspection

All it does is capture your gas tank vapors. Some take it off, then park in the garage huffing gas fumes, and turn around and put it back on. But if you hate the looks, just take it off. No harm, No foul either way.

An 1125 owner would gladly buy it off of you. Their bikes frames get alot hotter and spew gas out the vent pretty regularly.

Mine doesn't do that either. Did you remove the canister or do some kind of bypass or something? Just wondering.
Here's what it looks like when gas goes through the charcoal canister onto the side stand. There's more than fumes going through the can.

No, the canister is just as the day it rolled out of the dealership. You know where the tank casting has a hole just below the filler cap? That's where I need to stop filling or else it does it. The most notable time would be when I was out on a ride, I filled up then parked and went in for a beverage. Upon coming out of the c-store my canister was dripping fuel and it did the cough/sputter thing for a mile or so, throwing the code at me. Usually though, if I over fill, when I get out of the gas station lot and down the road, all is well.
