I bought a Corbin seat for my S tail. I was a little surprised when I opened the box up and saw the frame wasn't a factory frame.
Here is the deal I have the spacers on my tail and I am not sure if I can bend this seat with out breaking it. Does anyone have experience with this?
My plan of action is a heat gun and a lot of freakn time.
Just don't want to ruin it!!

Nope! not a factory frame and nope I bought it used. It is my understanding that Corbin does not use cores

i have a corbin seat and mine looks exactly the same underneath. if you were to heat and bend i would think that the top of it would either start to look too loose or it would deform the contour of the original seat. with the amount it costs to buy one of these i dont think i would mess with it. but thats just me :D. let us know what you end up doing with it i am curious to see what becomes of your project

Ohhh I am defiantly going to mess with it!!! I wouldn't be a Bueller if I left it alone! I am not willing to lose my spacers and a want a comfy toosh too! One way or another I will make it happen

**** the seat pan is fiberglass. new ideas?
Yeah, I was going to post up about the fiberglass pan. I think you're painted into the corner: Lose the spacers or lose the seat. If you mount it up, the pan will almost certainly crack.

I would find out for sure?
If they don't, maybe they have experience building them for bikes with spacers. If not, maybe they'll be forced to use a core? That's a pretty important disclaimer.
You could sell me that one for really really really really cheap :D and send them a core or have them make it according to specs with spacers?!?

I had the spacers on mine with the corbin seat for about 2 days. It sat on there ok but looked weird. I went back to the stock seat for a little then took out the spacers and put the corbin back on.

It is 100% fiberglass pan. They didn't seem very interested in returning e-mails so I am about done with Corbin.
flaya I don't like your scenarios!

I was thinking you could make a relief cut in the seat pan towards the front, get it to fit and re-glass where the cut is. Wouldn't be anywhere near the strength of the original seat though.
I wonder how stiff the seat pan foam is? That might give you trouble too. I thought the Corbin theory was their seat was more rigid than stock, which gives more support.

lets get this straight... You have a tail lift? and where is the hook that clips into the seat?
I have a corbin on my SS, and it fits great! And i sent them a few emails, they responded promptly. Maybe ask the original owner to email them?
Try taking out the spacers, see if it fits then?
What does the G mean at the end of HD XB9S G? my first thought was SCG... I thought that the seats were interchangable between the SCG and the S, so i dont know why that would be the problem but maybe?

Any pics of what the seat looks like? All I see is pics of the bottom...

I have never once modified fiberglass... So that makes me nervous.
Rebel caferacer,
I didn't understand much of anything you said.
Yes I have a Corbin, Yes my tail is lifted. What latch?
I know the seat will fit with out the spacers but that isn't the look I want. I want the Corbin to fit nicely on my lifted S tail.
I tried to put the seat on today. WOW she has absolutely no give. Zip Zero Nada!
TACPBuell I can post some later. I am a bit to lazy at the moment

Picture as promised.
So you guys might want to kill me for saying this. BUT what if I pop the rivets on the current Corbin seat and take the internals and transfer them to my current seat pan with a nice staple gun. That would give me what I want. The Corbin seat on my bike. No?

Forget about the latch, i saw it later...
I have never done a tail lift, but i've got to imagine it puts alot of pressure on the front of the seat.
I wouldnt do any extensive cutting of the seat pan, you might as well leave a stock seat on. The corbin is 10x's more comfortable, but if you modify it too much, i dont think it will work.
How is it not fitting?
Maybe try taking off the front rubber spacers, maybe that will give you enough relief. If it fits then, maybe find something thinner to replace them permenantly.

The seat has to flex in the front. I could remove everything on the seat (save the pan) and it would not fit. I would either have to cut or bend the seat pan to fit
I suspect that your transplant would work. Depending on the increase of the angle, you might end up with some puckering or wrinkling of the cover, but you might be able to work those out as you go.

got me a corby. rear bolt holes had to be redrilled in the seat for it to line up.

See? That kind of **** is why I won't give Corbin any money. There's no F'n excuse for that. Not like there's any variability in the mouting points. Puh.
